There's a book titled "Weapons and Hope" by Freeman Dyson. It might be out of print, but try your library. The book is ever more relevant as we see AI uprising. AI now is equivalent to nuclear weapons back then. Hope as our response to intractable problems and practical ways of dealing with them.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: A federal judge just HALTED the destruction of Big Bend. This is a massive victory for the landowners, local communities, and everyday Texans who stood up to protect one of our state's greatest treasures. The fight isn't over, but today, the people won.
Graphic from the Center for Biological Diversity over a scenic view of Big Bend. Large text reads, “MASSIVE WIN FOR BIG BEND.” Below, it says a federal judge has frozen all destruction throughout the Big Bend region until the project’s legality can be determined in court. The graphic adds that the Center will continue fighting to save Big Bend and asks supporters to join them.

The NY Times says it’s “not clear“ why Trump is using taxpayer funds and not money from his super PAC for his self-glorifying ads. But it’s clear to me. It’s because HE‘S A CROOK.
It was not clear why taxpayer funds, and not money from the super PAC, were used for the spots.

Scientists are still struggling to explain a bizarre neutrino that crashed to Earth in February 2023—and one explanation is as bizarre as the event itself, invoking primordial black holes, extra “dark” dimensions, and strange cosmic strings.

Scientists saw a very weird particle. Some say it came from an exploding, five-dimensional black hole
An unexplained high-energy neutrino detected three years ago could be linked to a primordial black hole, perhaps one more even unusual than previously thought

Here's your reminder that border czar Tom Homan, who is terrorizing hard-working immigrants, took $50,000 in an FBI bribery sting. The Trump regime killed the probe, and there’s no indication that Homan paid the money back to the taxpayers – or even paid taxes on the "income."
ms.now
Tom Homan was investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents. Trump's DOJ shut it down.
The FBI and Justice officials closed the investigation, which a Justice Department appointee had called a “deep state” probe in early 2025.

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

We’re living through a time when far too many men — including privileged young men at a frat house in an Ivy League university — feel impunity when it comes to attacking women. I don’t think it unrelated to the impunity felt by the man now occupying the highest office in the land.

Quiz question. Why are people staying in their jobs longer? A) They fear they can't find another job in a tough economy. or B) They know Republicans keep making Obamacare more expensive, so they feel chained to their current job for the health insurance. or C) They think their boss is just super.

It's been years that the US enjoyed an upper hand. Now it's time for them to enjoy the same. They are investing in renewable energy, while the US is refusing it. The US' economic imperialism is waning, while they're more united. A big shift.
