Finally saw ANORA and I liked it, brilliant performance from Mickey Madison in the lead, but why is it THE movie of the year? Do we just need to justify our love of stripper movies by positioning them as high art, or what? It was fun but I don’t think it’s one I’ll keep thinking about.

I’m at the Blood in the Snow festival pitch presentations & it’s so great to see so many creative people pitching such fun, original ideas. I always forget how creatively invigorating it can be to participate in things like this. Looking forward to meeting with all the project teams tomorrow.

Finished a huge writing assignment today and was able to not only hand it in but also invoice for the work, and I feel both proud of myself and hugely relieved, so I treated myself to a trip to IKEA to buy their seasonal wrapping paper.

Today's the day I finally finish the 1st draft of a screenplay that I’ve been labouring over all year, because I underestimated how hard it would be for me to switch gears from prose fiction to screenwriting. Handing it into my producer by Monday, latest. Posting here for accountability. UUUGH.

I’m 56 pages into a screenplay that I need to finish writing by next Monday. It can be a shitty first draft, no stress. There will be plenty of time for revisions. But still, it’s a tough slog. This is honestly harder for me than writing a novel & I was naive for thinking it wouldn’t be! #writing
