Just saw a discussion online about this map showing the percentage of Poles currently living in their place of birth. Someone said,"You can see the "Recovered Territories. This and other 1200 glass negatives, depicting the early postwar history in Goleniów in Pomerania were discovered in 2011. In various conditions, they survived and became re-worker. Yesterday, we opened an exhibition that together with the local community searches for people who were captured.

1/3 So there's the book. It was first published in German, as Under the Polish Administration, an outcome of the journey Charles Wassermann did in the 1950s through, what he has later named Europe's Forgotten Territories. It was, indeed, about what Poles called the Recovered Territories.

Hi, I'm a cultural anthropologist dealing with 👻 by connecting ethnography in post-displacement regions in 🇵🇱, 🇨🇿 & 🇸🇰 with study of archives to find out what were the encounters of humans and non-humans after the forced displacement of Germans post-1945. Recently, I published this book ⤵️.

Fun fact from the Polish elections in Lower Silesia: One of the polling stations is located in Villa Wiesenstein - the former house of Gerhart Hauptmann, the German Nobel laureate for literature. So yes, some Poles are choosing the next government from Hauptmann’s basement.
