On this day 50 years ago, the revolutionary British Rail Inter-City 125 entered service. Fantastic to see a set restored into 1980s livery arrive at Manchester Piccadilly this afternoon. #TheJourneyShrinker

Early stroll. Fallen leaves as autumn’s calling cards. Sometimes time moves as quickly as that cat. Sometimes time moves as slowly as the moon. An owl’s psalm. A dropped doughnut outside the dentist’s.

Rules matter. Those that see them as something to be bent need to see consequences. If not? The sport, with a growing list of other elements of society, will be undermined to the detriment of all of us. Jumpers for goal posts? The goal posts have been moved & the playing fields are not level. 🥅⚽

The shop is open when I arrive. The shopkeeper is getting the papers out of the box. She asks me if I can get the last bundle because she has pain in her hip. We carry the papers in. She passes me the scissors. Outside, it’s just getting light.

I strongly believe schools should bring children together rather than try to impose one religious identity on them. If you agree - please add your name and call on the Education Secretary to introduce inclusive assemblies for all, and to keep dangerous Christian Nationalism OUT of our schools.

🧵There has been a lot of discussion over the last few days about the politicising of a nostalgic view of the UK that never really existed, at least not for the vast majority of the population. The image of the traditional British country pub, a roaring log fire, wooden beams, a pint on the table
A romanticised 1946 depiction of a rural English village. Several villagers carry out various types of agricultural work, such as tending horses and fixing wheels on carts, whilst others are engaged in conversation outside the village pub.
