With Election Day approaching, this week's Friday Power Lunch brings together four conversations about rights, civic participation, and the people organizing in communities across Virginia.

We begin with Sheba Williams, founder of Nolef Turns, whose work supporting formerly incarcerated Virginians brings a deeply personal perspective to the history of felony disenfranchisement and the proposed Voting Rights Restoration Amendment.

Next, Jamie Lockhart joins us to examine reproductive freedom, including Virginia's proposed constitutional amendment, the FDA's review of mifepristone, and changes to Title X, the federal family planning program serving low-income Americans.

Then Carrie Short takes us around Virginia for a preview of Saturday's No Kings events, sharing stories from local leaders about their communities, their plans, and why they are participating.

Finally, Finale Norton brings her SHOCK & AWE TOP TEN, a lively roundup of ways people are helping eligible voters participate in this year's elections.

I think about Reagan removing the solar panels Carter put up on the White House. Solar power would have been so cheap today. But the oil and gas industry bought up Congress. China stole our technology and got the price down quickly.
