Kudos to Harvard Prof. Joseph Allen for publicly expressing his concern w/ CDC & WHO, which say the Andes hantavirus can only spread with “close & prolonged contact,” when the literature indicates the virus is aerosolized & can spread more easily. (This confirms how I’ve been reading the lit, too.)

I wanted to ask you about polka dots. You play a polka dot guitar. That’s a bold choice for a blues artist. What’s your fascination with those?

My dad got to see me play, but Mom had a stroke and never did. I lied to her when I moved to Chicago. Told her I’d be back soon and buy her a polka dot Cadillac. She loved polka dots. But I never did come back home, and I didn’t make any money in time to buy her that car.

When she died, I thought about that lie I had told her and asked Fender to make a polka dot guitar in honor of my mother. It took them years, but finally they did, and I play that polka dot Strat as a tribute to her.

Nah closest I get is gifted rooted cuttings or other living local plants. Hard to enjoy the typical gifts when they are rooted in the exploitation of the Global South, especially children. Show love daily and these commercial days hold less weight.

I’d put it differently. EBV is almost certainly necessary (but not sufficient) for MS. So prevent EBV and you prevent MS. But most people who get EBV (and most people do) never get MS. EBV puts the bullet in the chamber but things unknown pull the trigger.
