For every real complaint about rising gas prices and how ordinary Americans are hurting I also see a lot of drivers for whom the cost of gas is not high enough, such as the folks on my street who idle their cars during alternate side parking with the AC cranked while they play on their phones.

Back to school means new opportunities, clubs, and classmates! But, as a parent, it also means doctor's appointments, physical exams, and hearing and vision tests. Every kid deserves to show up to school healthy and ready to learn. That's what MediKids is all about.

The War on Cars @thewaroncars.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
There are zero "anti-car activists" (the term being thrown around today) who believe that vital services such as emergency response and sanitation shouldn't be done with vehicles. The issue is personal automobile ownership and the over-deployment of cars at the expense of nearly everything else.

@ my sister’s graduation; car dependency really ruins the mood of so many events. People are overjoyed and wanting to celebrate but parents urge everybody to get back to their cars so they can drive home ASAP. It angers me.

If you don’t like what you’re seeing at Delaney Hall, pay attention to what’s happening in Congress this week.   We must stop giving ICE and for-profit companies like GEO Group a blank check to create chaos.

Working families in NJ-07 are doing everything right and still falling behind. Housing prices, the utility bill, the grocery run: all of it climbs while wages stay flat. Yet the Epstein class continues to get richer.

I have long been an opponent of data centers for the immense harms they pose to the environment, health, and justice of New Jersey communities. I proudly support the proposal of a 3-year statewide moratorium on their development. 🔗 Sign the petition from the Pinelands Alliance here:

Something I've been thinking about is how safe streets advocates are treated as hysterical and dramatic for pointing out that drivers should stop killing us, yet the people fomenting a moral panic about e-bikes are treated as reasonable and their concerns are taken seriously.

Excited to announce I was endorsed by Freethought Equality PAC! They're leaders in creating a government responsive to the needs of the people, defending our freedoms, and protecting against right-wing religious extremism. I look forward to working with them in Congress to deliver for NJ families.

Finally got around to listening to @thewaroncars.bsky.social’s episode with Dr. Appleyard. As a student of urban planning and design, the work of his father is fresh in my mind. It was wonderful to hear just some of Bruce’s insights into the livable streets movement and the promise of the street.

Horrifying. We need a representative in NJ-7 who will stand up to Trump and ICE, rather than silently capitulate at their constituents’ expense like Tom Kean Jr.

Peaceful protest is not weak. It is powerful. There is power in peace, and Flemington understands this. When enough people are loud enough for long enough, things change. We can win this fight.

The other night I was driving in pouring rain, fully dark, and the car randomly lost GPS.
No location. No navigation.
Which also meant no FSD.
I tried two software resets while driving just to get GPS back. Nothing worked. So there I was, manually driving in terrible conditions, unsure of positioning, no assistance, no guidance.
And it genuinely felt unsafe. For me and for the people in the car.
Then it hit me.
This feeling - the stress, the uncertainty, the margin for error - this is how most drivers feel every single day.
No FSD. No constant awareness. No backup.
We've normalised danger so much that we only notice it when the safety net disappears.Chris Robovan

So true. I couldn't imagine trying to figure things out myself anymore
I feel it every time I have to take over to take a separate entrance or find an area different from the exact pin at a destination. 12.6.4 does 98% of my driving but that last 2% is tough
I couldn't imagine also being without GPS

These massive blunt-nosed bastard trucks need to be taxed out of existence. They're a consistent threat to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists (especially children).

This Al-generated advertisement about how terrible the holidays are is so sloppish and miserable that McDonald's had it pulled in a day. Large companies have forgotten even the most simple purpose of commercials: to connect with and appeal to a potential audience.

Something I’ve been getting into lately is including pianos in public spaces—especially transit stations and on college campuses. It’s a special feeling to realize that someone is creating a unique, honestly-attempted sound that only those around will ever get to hear.

This is an excellent point, and one that applies to all commercial areas. Car dependence and acres of parking lots not only hurt the environment and are expensive and unhealthy for consumers, but they inhibit businesses of every size.

In car-dependent communities like my own, careless driving on Halloween can pose massive risk to families trick-or-treating. If you need not drive today, then DO NOT. If you do, use utmost patience and care and set aside some extra time for your commute: drive slow. Keep our streets safe. 🎃

Disgusting and treasonous. ICE is a stain on our country and the least extreme view is to say that it ought to be abolished and every one of its agents put on trial.

Meta’s continuous habit of adjusting into a more abhorrent version of itself has no end in sight. Earlier this year they approved hate speech based on gender and sexual orientation. Now, they are encouraging their AI chatbots to engage in “romantic and sensual” interactions with children.
