Frontier LLMs are much better and dramatically faster than I am at finding and fixing bugs. If you are not asking them to debug your code and review your bugs, you are doing it wrong. A thread of Claude wins. (No longer at Google, btw.)

Told I had ADHD as a teenager, diagnosed properly in my early thirties. Coding agents are the first tools that lower the friction of starting, which for my brain was always the hard part. Now the off switch is missing. "When the friction is gone, the brake is gone too."

4,000 markdown files, PARA, Readwise, obsidian-git. All boring, deliberately. The part I actually care about is one rule I gave Claude Code: "The LLM never edits a source." Most AI-PKM tools treat your notes as something to improve. Mine stay as sloppy as I wrote them.

I have been in the OpenTelemetry Go compile-time instrumentation SIG since early 2025, so watching it hit v1 last week felt good. The trick: it hooks the Go toolchain at build time to instrument code you did not write. "It is just a Go binary, compiled slightly differently."

Something I've wanted in Go for years: observability without touching source. Now it's here. Swap `go build` for `otelc go build` and OpenTelemetry gets compiled into your app, its dependencies, and the stdlib. v1 is out, and I got to help build it.

I've co-mentored cohorts on Thanos, Prometheus, and now OpenTelemetry. The throughline: The reason the projects you depend on still exist in five years is that someone, somewhere, in 2024, mentored the person who will be on call the night your service crashes in 2030.

we left kids to their own devices with social media. repeating the same with AI would be a disaster. i think kallas is actually on to something here. i have no hope that our education systems can figure out a way on how to teach kids how to deal with that tech in time.

.git/info/exclude is one of my favorite git features, but I'm always surprised when I talk to people who never heard about it. It basically allows you to add stuff to .gitignore without modifying the file. Great for ad-hoc ignoring some files created during debugging.

Dependabot security alerts have terrible signal-to-noise ratio, especially for Go vulns. That hurts security! Just turn it off and set up a pair of scheduled GitHub Actions, one running govulncheck and the other running CI with the latest version of your deps. Less work, less risk, better results!

Running Claude Code on a Linux box over SSH just unlocked a whole new world for me. I’ve never managed to become an avid Vim user (too impatient, and lazy), but now I can code comfortably through SSH with Claude doing the heavy lifting.
