all deaths are quiet when ears are covered all deaths are clean when eyes are closed it’s soft because you allow it it’s gentle because you prefer it the horrors are muted when they don’t start with you

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

What is the result for women? Specifically? I can make similar posts on other currently marginalized identities as well—they hate everyone who is not their particular kind of white, rich, and male—but this hatred of women is so insidious because they disguise it as protection.

Kaitlin Shetler @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social · 26/02/2025

Abortion bans, increased voting restrictions, banning gay marriage and queer rights—all these things are designed to keep women ignorant, married, home bound, and pregnant. Banning psychiatric medication, including depression and ADHD meds? Taking away hormone treatments? Social security? Medicaid?

The current attack on nonprofits and education is the result of trying to remove women from the workforce.

This presidency is the result of people being anti-Black and people being anti-woman. Full stop. You can’t claim to love women and force them to give birth. You can’t claim to respect women and not put them in positions of power.

Kaitlin Shetler @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social · 26/02/2025

A male ally gives power back to women. He allows her to speak and make decisions around her own body. His actions and speech are not violent—he passes the microphone when he can, and when he has access to places she does not, he calls out sexist thoughts and behaviors.

Kaitlin Shetler @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social · 26/02/2025

There’s no such thing as a soft patriarchy. There are just men who say they hate women with their full chest and men who try to hide how much they hate women by practicing moral equivalency.

I am really, really tired of men trying to make their violence against women sound reasonable.

Kaitlin Shetler @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social · 26/02/2025

A complementarian who says women can lead in *certain cases* does not actually believe in god-ordained gender roles, but just wants to be a power-hungry misogynist.

120

Kaitlin Shetler @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social · 26/02/2025

A man who makes an “exception” for abortion in certain cases, does not actually care about “the unborn,” but his ability to control a woman’s body.

It went on and on and on, until one day, when one of his subjects walked through the woods, they came upon the old witch’s house, abandoned and forgotten, just waiting to be found. Something stirred, long buried and bound, and that’s where our story really begins.

Eventually, the world forgot it was magic at all, and believed that the little King had been touched by the gods. They adjusted to the changes he made, praising his ingenuity and blessing his power.
