If you are thinking of running a comic festival a basic thing that establishes community trust is: from the start PLEASE put the names of who is running your festival on your website. Maybe you are the most above board trustworthy team of all time, but I don't know that if your fest is faceless.

yeah i'm just like.... come on.... how can you expect ppl to take you seriously if you won't back what you're doing with a name and a face? it's so unprofessional! & I worry about younger cartoonists not knowing to ask a few questions before jumping on board.

Thankfully, the times i've seen this happen, the events have eventually been revealed to be organized by cartoonists active in their local scenes & *not* scams. But, in my opinion, if you cannot list your organizers when you announce the event, you probably shouldn't be announcing it yet.

Also for the love of god exhibitors: DO NOT give your personal info or payment to a festival that does not list WHO is behind it. This is like scams 101, but I have seen ppl get very exited about new events they know nothing about & the potential for harm is kind of obvious.

This is not a specific call out, just a musing. I've seen this 3 times over the past like 2 years and it makes an event look unprofessional and inconsiderate from the start, though that is rarely the intention. I think transparency is extremely important in event organizing.

i fell roller skating lol. i fell really hard partially bc the instructor did a poor job scaffolding the 'beginner' class for a range of abilities & i still feel really weird and embarrassed about it! which is my own issue with doing "athletic" things. however, i am not letting that stop me.

wild that physio works. i got injured pretty badly a few months ago & had a weird flare up a few weeks ago that sent me to urgent care.... where they pointed me towards physiotherapy. and slowly but surely i'm losing pain and regaining range of motion in my injured leg????? wow!

This baby quilt i'm working on is turning out sooooooo good!!! (design is my own--the parents gave me a colour palette to work from & i went from there)

This was a p easy pattern! But I will say, the instructions are kind of a clunky russian -> english translation although the pictures are decent. So if you do decide to make it, pls message me if you get stuck!

You can see in these photos that the point on that v-neck is CRISP and CLEAN. I'm soooooo proud of that. I attempted this style of neckline like 3 years ago and biffed it so badly. Turns out.... when you keep practicing..... you improve.......

they're soooooo cheap compared to those special water erasable pens. (& i don't like "heat erasable" pens bc the ink will come back in below freezing temperatures. which isn't a going concern in vancouver but like! it could happen!)

one of the hottest sewing tips i picked up recently is that crayola washable markers wash out of fabric so well. so they're great for tracing patterns/marking darts/etc.
