David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 19/02/2026Thinking of switching from X to Bluesky specifically because X's search is broken. My micro-blogging is mostly personal reference of ideas and notes-to-self, and that requires working search. How's the search function on Bluesky? 000
David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 19/02/2026You can’t unsee some things, but I don’t recall ever feeling I couldn’t un-read. Yet another reason to default to reading. 000
David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 19/02/2026To start note-taking, think of “cell division” Start with one note: “Inbox”. Dump into that until you’re ready to divide into a new note, then another, and another. You’ll eventually have a bunch of folders and notes and your unique way of organizing, and it will look like you planned it. 000

David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 19/02/2026Switching from the exploration mode to execution mode on a creative project is like folding a drop of ink in a piece of paper, opening it, then deciding whether you see an angel or demon. 000

Pre-internet, I grew up without even home video rentals. Recorded music was expensive, books were expensive, my town had no book shops or record stores, we had no movie theater 201533
David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 03/05/2025The popular saying is “Sleep on it,” but we rarely use incubation intentionally. If you need to think hard about something, jot down notes about it for 5 minutes, then go to bed. In the morning you’ll have the solution. It’s magic! 010

David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 28/02/2025Writer’s block is often caused by trying to take a deductive approach to what’s better served by an inductive process. You’re expecting to write something true. But to get to the truth you have to be willing to first risk writing something false. 000
David Kadavy @kadavy.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Today, a hummingbird came to my lunch table and floated in front of my face several seconds, looking right at me. It was crazy. I wonder if it was the same one I rescued from my house a year ago. 110
