Same criticism applies to BBC Sherlock. These characters work a lot better as outsiders who wade into storylines, fix (or break) shit, and then head off for the next one. They can have personal growth, relationships, baggage etc but the external world doesn't need to bend around those things.

What I don't like about the Bond movies after Casino Royale is that they start trying to turn him into the centre of his universe. You can give him a backstory and character development, but when you make all the important players obsessed with Bond it makes the world seem tiny and kinda' dumb.

I find the hypothetical use-cases pretty funny too. "Gemini, tell me what colour to paint my bedroom. I just can't decide." Like is the target userbase for AI just people with terminally barren personality?

My one main criticism would be that the protagonists' development felt quite rushed, especially towards the end. Big changes happen quite quickly and I think they either needed to let things sit a bit longer or lay more groundwork.

It explored some aspects of the setting in a way that I really would have liked to see more of in Star Wars, especially the prequels. And it didn't messily stomp all over the existing stories or canon like certain other shows produced by a guy whose name rhymes with Bologna.

I had Star Wars fatigue when it first came out, but last night on a whim I binged through all of The Acolyte. It was... decent? Interesting and fun most of the way through but the final episode fumbled a bit. Not exactly groundbreaking, but way more watchable than things like Ashoka and Boba Fett!

let's be clear, let's be very clear, let's be incredibly clear about something: Marcia Lucas is why you love Star Wars. She's why Star Wars worked. She's why it has heart. She's responsible for the in-media-res beginning, she's responsible for basically everything charming and unique about >

The saddest and most frustrating thing is this sort of behaviour by the political establishment only incites *more* bigotry by shoehorning a wide range of issues into a simplified "us or them" narrative. Which is probably deliberate. The elites do love using vulnerable minorities as human shields.

Erika McCorkle - Merchants of Light and Bone Audaciously bonkers, and that's a compliment. If you want to get lost in strange new world, give it a shot! Z.B. Steele - Whispers of the Storm I haven't read this specific book, but based on the authors other work you can expect some fantastic prose.

Sculptor Amierie could be set for life when a trove of demon-slaying crystals is discovered, but grief overwhelms him when his daughter dies in the crevice.Whispers of the Storm by Z.B.Steele

My take is the imperium is our greatest enemy. It is a factory farm for the suffering that feeds chaos and its ignorance leaves us helpless against more advanced races like the Necrons (and one day the Tau). But it is the "safe" choice to survive the next century and we're bad at thinking ahead.

It's not just a _failure_ really. Most mainstream media is owned by people that want people like Trump to win, even if the average individual journalist might personally skew a bit more central or left.

AI bros don't understand basic commerce... or anything really. The market is already oversaturated. Readers would have to get through a truly monstrous amount of books per year before they got desperate enough to read AI slop.

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor. "I can't afford a visual artist" So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them? Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.
