Wanted to take a picture on the theme of a certain sonnet, but the leaves in the foreground spoiled the effect by resembling a rubber duck.
I think main text covered it. Sonnet is That time of year thou mayst in me behold. . .

I made a blog post, and wanted to sum up in a few words what the nine questions are about. I went with " denying services to residents without permanent immigration status, and reducing the accountability of the provincial government." 1/3

I left the sheets I've been covering my tender plants with lying near the garden overnight when frost was not forecast. Seemed to be one short the next time I covered them. Later found a sheet down the back with bite marks in it. I suspect our resident fox thinks they are more equal than others.

My Rage Against the Machine/Les Mis mashup is complete. This is my interpretation of the quilt guild’s summer challenge “quilt with your interpretation and/or feelings towards our current ‘democracy’” all hand stitched.
Quilt hanging on a card catalog. Neutral background with navy cursive appliqué “Do you hear thr people sing?” The background is embroidered in red starting light and getting bolder the lyrics to “killing in the name” the quilting effect is a focused sunburst from the center.

A little poem for Alberta @dshepyeg.bsky.social
My province is a festival
where everyone rubs shoulders,
and anyone can take the stage.

My province is a mountain range,
ancient and sublime,
defying all human pretension.

My province is an aspen forest
where many little kindreds
live between the sister trees.

My province is a potluck dinner
where you are welcome
even if you can’t cook.

My province is a green light
dancing mysteriously
for those who lift their eyes.

Alberta separatism isn’t just an Alberta problem. It’s a sign of a much deeper issue in Canadian politics
The collapse of political competition and winner-takes-all mentality has allowed fringe elements to hijack mainstream political parties.

Last week, Smith posted on social media that “For every $1 of taxes a guest worker generates, taxpayers are covering $10 in services.” While this figure might ring true for many, it is far from accurate. I fact-checked Smith’s claims in my latest for @thetyee.ca

Hey Alberta - there's a federal petition out right now to bar construction of energy-hungry AI data centres. It aims to mandate and prioritize national environmental protections, public hearings, and First Nations consent. Anyone from Canada can sign: www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...
image is a screenshot from the official Canadian House of Commons website (ourcommons.ca) featuring an excerpt from petition e-7427 put forward by Member of Parliament Heather McPherson. The petition is open starting May 20, 2026, and closes September 17, 2026. The excerpt reads: "We, the undersigned, People of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to immediately impose a federal moratorium on the approval, construction, expansion, or operation of proposed hyperscale AI data centres in Alberta, including the proposed Wonder Valley AI Data Centre Industrial Park and the proposed Synapse Data Centers Olds Project. 1. Prohibit federal permits, funding, tax incentives, loan guarantees, infrastructure support, or federal land and water access for AI data centres powered primarily by fossil fuels or requiring large-scale freshwater withdrawals; 2. Establish binding national environmental protections that permanently prohibit hyperscale AI data centres that would significantly increase greenhouse gas emissions, strain provincial electrical grids, consume unsustainable amounts of freshwater, or negatively impact surrounding communities, farmland, ecosystems, or Indigenous territories; and 3. Require mandatory federal environmental assessments, transparent public hearings, and free, prior, and informed consent from affected Indigenous nations and municipalities before any future AI data centre proposal may be considered in Alberta and in Canada." #abpoli #canpoli #cdnpoli
