Not sure what used EVs are going for now, but back in February they were ridiculously cheap. Combination of expiring tax credits and increases in range over the past 2 years put a bunch of early lease returns on the market. My commute's short, so 270 miles is plenty. Home charger is essential, tho

That was exactly my thinking. Of course, EV repairs can be huge if they happen--they're just rare. The 8yr warranty on the battery and buying a Toyota went a long way toward calming my fears.

Did an Alaska cruise after my first turn in Iraq, and it was awesome. Not least b/c my wife had been raising 2 4yos by herself for a year and they stayed with nana and grandpa for the week.

(a)
(1) The Comptroller General and Deputy Comptroller General are appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.
(2) When a vacancy occurs in the office of Comptroller General or Deputy Comptroller General, a commission is established to recommend individuals to the President for appointment to the vacant office. The commission shall be composed of-
(A) the Speaker of the House of Representatives;
(B) the President pro tempore of the Senate;
(C) the majority and minority leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate;
(D) the chairmen and ranking minority members of the Committee on Governmental Affairs of the Senate and the Committee on Government
Operations of the House; and
(E) when the office of Deputy Comptroller General is vacant, the Comptroller General.
(3) A commission established because of a vacancy in the office of the Comptroller General shall recommend at least 3 individuals. The President may ask the commission to recommend additional individuals.

Also true, but relevant to whether he *thinks* he can stomach it. I just don’t attribute a lot of genuine self awareness where I’ve never seen any evidence of it. I *know* that I couldn’t watch it, but I also don’t preen around in my manly toughness.

I watched the video of Saddam Hussein's execution. Few people were more clearly deserving of it, but my life is not better for having seen it, and I wish I had not. Watching anyone die that way is terrible, and it does not make us better.

Procedures and rules are often written by people who don't understand how the affected institution works. As we increasingly move online I find more processes where I have to select "other" b/c the coder/rule maker didn't contemplate all possible situations.

On a side note, every institutional active shooter training I've ever done is pretty vague about the "fight" response. They provide no guidance on how to fight other than "use improvised weapons," something people should probably think about before they're under maximum stress.
