Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Creators should be compensated for their work, not have it stolen. Corporations have, through lobbying, extended copyright terms well beyond their original term. In the Copyright Act of 1790 it was 14 years, renewable for another 14. Today, it can be as much as 120 years after creation. Both bad. 130

Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I think this is a great idea. But too easy to cheat. One way they’d get around it would be to split into two companies with a business relationship between them. Put the high paying employees in one company, and the low paying ones in another. 110
Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 21/09/2026No. I'm impressed with the LLM's transformer architecture, the attention mechanism, the math behind it, and the emergent behavior. That would probably be ok ethically if it was not trained on stolen content. I still would not want it in charge of nuclear weapons. 120
Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I think if an apocalypse is a potential outcome, then outcomes also include every bad thing up to and including that apocalypse. And those non-apocalyptic things could have adverse affects on valuations. But the entire discussion is absurd. 010

Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I am genuinely impressed with what current LLM's can do, and I am not averse to using them for certain things. I also think that they way they have been trained, using copyrighted human generated content, is extremely unethical, and must be addressed with new laws and compensation for the creators. 020

Kevin Morgan @jvmguy.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I think it's a calculated strategy, but not without risks. With a lack of conventional weapon superiority, will a nuclear power use nuclear weapons as a last resort? No sane power would, but is that a good bet? 010
