Hey folks. In total honesty my tour is NOT selling well. I’ve sold 30 tickets in a 400 seater in Birmingham, and not much more elsewhere. If you like musical comedy, if you like standup, then please come see my show! And spread the word! The Rachel Parris Songbook tour starts in Nov! Link in bio! 🎶

Homoseksualiteit zou niet natuurlijk zijn. Het is een argument dat nog altijd wordt gebruikt tegen homoseksualiteit, ook door jongeren. Alleen klopt het

Applying the usual conversion rates*, that equates to 11,85 Belgians (Flemmings, they are a bit taller) *assuming the flamingo is a tall, male phoenicopterus roseus

I think I understand. There were a lot of aspects of Australian life we enjoyed, same is true about ZA Jo'burg, but we didn't want to permanently live in either place.

One caveat: it's been 10 years since we left Sydney. My views were a) only based on a few months of exposure and b) are 10 years old!

Yep, understand. Had a similar feeling in Melbourne, very samey. Sydney felt different, more variety and more non-white Aussies, we were happier there.

Why did you hate it? We didn't want to cope with the massive & open levels of racism (half Chinese family).

We are also desperate for rain here, have had significantly less rain than in a "normal" year in west-central Europe. Our major rivers (especially the Rhine) are way too low. Read news about Lake Constance yesterday, also unseasonably low.

You have a beautiful sky over London/Essex! I never had opportunity to complain about too little rain when I lived in LDN a lifetime ago ;-)

Normal morning in Durham: you look up from breakfast, see a mostly sunny sky, dress accordingly. Leave the house 5 minutes later walking into a torrential downpour of cold rain. (also available the other way round)

CRANE, a UK cybersecurity research network, used AI to desk-reject 50% of proposals before human review, including one on the risks of trusting AI models in voice analysis from Lancaster University forensic linguist Claire Hardaker. This seems like AI doing the right thing in protecting itself. 🙃

It is important that the German Greens directly reject the UK Green Party’s resolution titled "Zionism is Racism" and welcome the suspension of its voting rights within the European Green Party. It‘s urgently necessary for the @europeangreens.eu to distance itself from the UK Green Party’s position.

The "zionism is racism" motion that has just passed on the Green Party's conference floor is truly gross, and deeply racist. The party's MPs deserve some credit for opposing it, though they should've done so more stridently and sooner. This is now a millstone around the party's necks. Deservedly.

You can easily oppose the barbaric war crimes of the current Israeli government without backing this racist motion, which also takes away agency and the right of self-determination from everyone in the region, regardless of faith and background.

Although it feels like I am shouting into the void about this sometimes, I want to share some further thoughts on the “Zionism is Racism” motion which the Green Party is due to debate in the next 16 hours. Just to address various points which I think people in general should know. A thread:

re "Zionism is racism" - it's a cornerstone of British equality law that discrimination need not be intentional for it to be discriminatory I'm not making *legal* claims about the Green Party motion - but a policy that would render the vast majority of Jews as personae non gratae is flatly racist

I literally don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been raped, stalked, groped, harassed, or sexually violated in some way at some point in their life. If you choose to doubt and dox survivors, just know every woman in your life is disgusted by you.
