oh no... Since they split long before I was born I can probably count on one hand the number of times I saw them in the same room together. I was 35 when she died. One of those five or less was her funeral.

The way this woman talked about that man... If there was EVER a time for someone to pop up out of a casket because someone came to their funeral...

Dad described them as, "Well, mom is in Hawaii and dad is in Maine, so that's a good distance for them." When she died, my grandfather was still around and came up from South Carolina to pay his respects. I kid you not, I looked at the casket to make sure she didn't sit up when he walked in.

My dad's dad was always very aloof and the stories I heard from my grandmother were never positive. They got divorced when dad was in college, but he knew that was coming for a very long time.

That's the fascinating juxtaposition of people like him. Clearly he had a positive influence on your life, yet there is still that awful side that is truly bad.

I have absolutely no proof of it, but it is a belief that she was tired of being hounded by papparazzi everywhere she went (motive), she was rich (means), and with the car accident (opportunity) it all came together.
