I know where I won’t be going in a week…

Despite all the hype and technological “advancements” Haiku 4.5 is still utterly useless

Happening now: a bear 🐻 has climbed up the side of #Whistler Four Seasons and is exploring the room decks, probably trying to find a way inside 😂

Let me get this sensor HAT tightened up and I'm totally game to whiteboard. Will be a week or two and let's set up a date.

I think one of the key nuances I can’t quite figure out is “who” stores the historical data? The PDS? I think it has to go somewhere and it seems more efficient to design the PDS to query it locally?

Very cool! Yes would love to chat more. Let’s find a time over DM. Below is a seismic/infrasound board I’m working on (with attached FPGA for our internal chip development at biscut.ai) and my goal has been to figure out a network around all of it

Making sure I understand this correctly, if we stand up our own PDS that supports these lexicons we can federate and display each others data? And I can query your historical records and vice-versa? Are you working on any seismic or infrasound waveform?

Justin @justingeographic.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
This is brilliant! Did you create a new lexicon or are you proxying data into ATproto? Can you view a live stream? (I didn’t see a way to do that)

Interesting, I see @emily.space and I both stumbled on the OGC sensorthings API docs.ogc.org/is/15-078r6/...

Drafted up what the equivalent of ATproto could look like for sensor data like waveform streams and historical lookup. Curious what researchers out there think of this. @bmann.ca @ronentk.me gist.github.com/crockpotvegg...

Minority government sometimes encourages better policy so that sounds good to me

I think this election is very unnecessary and a power grab. Disappointing. However, don’t underestimate Lorne. He’s very likeable, very much advocates for his constituents. He might be their best leader yet.

Ha, given our deficit a tax cut seems like a bad idea. Deregulation isn’t the problem, the province self-owned with a very convoluted policy towards First Nations that only locks land into an unusable limbo state with no clear authority to make decisions. I don’t think Lowan gets it.

Greens still seem a little extremist these days I really would like a climate-minded but economic-driven party, however I think they need a new leader who has more life experience.

Computational Fluid Dynamics #CFD and 3D design improvements with GPT6 Astra. This is wild for engineering. I never thought we would be here so quickly.

Justin @justingeographic.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Well I guess if you give Astra a couple days things just reach a whole new level. Here's the Gastown (and soon rest of downtown) Vancouver recreation in Godot. It even recreated the interior for Lee's Donuts. #ChatGPT #GPT6

Wanted to see what all the hype was about with GPT6 Astra. Created a walkable recreation of Gastown in Vancouver in just over an hour in Godot.

I think you’re looking for wrought iron patio furniture and sunbrella cushions. It’s going to be a little extra budget but will last longer than civilization if you bring in the cushions in winter. I don’t recommend buying online for stuff line this but instead visit local hardware and patio stores

Yes and looks like traffic is piling up, they keep parking more on the runway

Justin @justingeographic.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Not sure if you’ve seen this but looks like a full ground stop at YVR I’ve never seen them park planes in the middle of runway like this

Thanks! It’s quieter now so he seems to be happier. I am really curious on the post-storm analysis of this event it seems so unusual.

Listening to the non stop thunder for hours was a new experience. My dog doesn’t scare easily and loves fireworks but this storm sent him crying to his bed, he was very unsure about it! Am I crazy or is this thing winding up for another pass?

Boeing 777 this was back in 2010 when stuff like this could go unnoticed. Apparently all the electronics went black while the system automatically rebooted itself. I think they still had basic avionics but navigation was affected. It was… interesting… when they announced it to the entire cabin.

Probably worried about drones but I also suspect they want to find a sideyard so they don’t shut down that rail line. Because Russia.
