It doesn't matter how legal or not what he proposes is, the idea is not to forward policy, it's to whip up bloodlust in the electorate. Promises of violence, promises of killing and torturing the enemy, etc is how Nazis came to power in 1932. Hegseth is doing this in the US.

It's def a thing. 🤦‍♀️ I looked myself before saying anything, jfc people are putting up sweet anecdotes about how nice he was or how sniffy about wine he was. He was a guy who used sex workers regularly and went to jail for lying in court. Horrible, snobby little man, wrote trash and paid for sex.

Yip. It's not 'political' it really is only 1 huge good guy v a range of really bad people. Read a few of the books way back, they suited a mood, dealing with my own 'baddies'. So maybe escapist lit. Bad guys generally get away with it irl, Reacher evens up the score. The books did get gratuitous.

Yes, but if you have a house with no spouse or dependant still living in it in Scotland, they will force the sale to pay for residential care aspects. It shocks loads of families who think residential care is 'free.' It isn't, or it only is if you're in a council house with v few assets.

It's true...also in ways you wouldn't expect. My Dad was pro EU, not in great health and nearly 90, he didn't vote at all because he felt he had no right, as he wouldn't live with the consequences. Wish more in his age group had the same principles.

These policies are not 'already in Scotland' -- yes, Scottish OAPs do get some free personal care but if you are single and own a property or have other assets/private pensions, those funds are also used up by nursing homes. If a spouse is still living in a family home they don't make you sell it.

Various bodies have been campaigning and lobbying for this commission for several years so v well developed concept. I've part time volunteered, leafleted, done a couple of presentations, little bit if direct lobbying to MPs and HoL. It's brilliant to hear it's going ahead. Just brilliant. 🤩

Up till 2024 in Chichester for 100 years then 50 years before that, non Tory voters were generationally disenfranchised. This affected over 50% of electorate in many GEs. Under PR you at least get some representation. Even the lib dem who won in 2024 knows it was on borrowed votes.

What even v young boys now think sex with a girl/woman is supposed to look like is highly related. Modern porn is v violent towards women, it suffered the same escalation into extremes to win clicks/views as the rest of the internet, and it's ridiculously accessible.
