This is VERY MUCH the thing that worries me about the next several years. So many things have been dismantled that I'm not sure anyone has the will or power to reassemble. I think the thing that will prevent a restoration of “normalcy” even when/if Trump & MAGA are in the rearview mirror is literally how many of our key institutions *treat* this era as normal. Media, markets and yes, much of the opposition party are just not reacting like this is a fascist takeover.
