In the context of the exchange we've been having in the last court session, and continuing into this one, it's worth mentioning the experience of those days in 2025 from the perspective of the defendants. I am willing to briefly run through mine.

The cells in which we were held consisted of a bare plastic mattress, a fluorescent light that could not be turned off, and a hole in the ground with a minuscule trickle of water that functioned as a toilet. There was no clock and a small window, high up, with heavily frosted glass, and at any one time it was hard to assess whether it was day or night or what hour it might be. The cell had no soap, no washbasin, and no toilet paper. As you've heard, myself and multiple other defendants had open wounds that had symptoms already consistent with infection.

At multiple points, I requested to make a call that would put me in touch with my legal representation. I was told repeatedly, including by the officer questioned on Wednesday and today, that this would happen later. I made the same request to place a call to my father to inform him of my whereabouts. I received the same answer. In the case of my legal representation, which I only later found out had been trying to call me at the same time in turn, 'later' meant 2 weeks after the day of my arrest. In the case of my family, it meant 4 weeks. The first time I saw or heard "criminal organization" in relation to our charges was when I read them in the indictment in the court. These are the conditions I experienced in the prison system in Baden Württemberg. This issue goes far beyond toilet paper. Though I would like to finally add, if anyone here has had to do without toilet paper for nearly 48 hours, 1 am fairly confident they'd remember it a year later too. Thank you.

I saw some folks shitting on Mike Flanagan again recently and it really rubbed me the wrong way. Like... his stuff is not perfect. It's not always great. It's not always even _good_. But it _often_ is great, and when it is, it's in a pretty unique way. And I think that's pretty neat!

The new Spider-Man is a comic-book-ass-comic-book movie in the best possible way. I know it's cool to shit on the MCU but you know what, I had a great time seeing the Spider-Man meet up with the Punisher and the Hulk and whatnot in a way that didn't feel like pointing & nudging.
