We had an unexpected visitor drop by last night. Thankfully there was no olfactory evidence of their visit, but I’m really not keen on the idea of a skunk hanging around. Especially if it manages to find its way into the backyard while the dogs are out there.

The Ocarina of Time remake dropping the day after I’m supposed to have my surgery is weirdly fortuitous timing. Depending on how strong my pain medication is I may not be able to start immediately, but I definitely will have something to occupy me during recovery!

I suppose I should post a personal life update eventually. I’ve been seeing a cardiologist for some time now, and this year I was officially diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I had a defibrillator surgically installed last month, and am scheduling heart surgery for this November.

One thing I really like about the upcoming Star Fox 64 remake that they’ve shown is that there’s actually a hint toward the alternate boss in Corneria. It always bugged me that of all the game’s missions, the most obtuse was the one in the very first level.

Did they open a little late for weather-related purposes? Sure. But was the grand opening event the best ramen I’ve ever had? Also very, very, yes. The flavor from the beef was perfectly mirrored in the broth, which was in turn absorbed by the noodles. Every bite was pure magic.

One game down of Strixhaven prerelease. Current thought? Killian’s Confidence is just an absurd card. This plus all the Repartee triggers is just silly.

We got the mythical cheap first class upgrade on this trip. Not sure what all I was expecting, but in addition to the roomier seat with nicer tray, they’re more generous with the drink and snack services as well. Wouldn’t spend the money to do this every time, but the difference is substantial.

A Switch 2 in tabletop mode, Joycon detached. A wrapped beef stick and full glass of ginger ale join it on the first class airplane tray, which is notably roomier and overall better quality than the standard.

The Dodgers’ minor league affiliate is in Oklahoma City, and my wife and I get a seven-game ticket package every year. I remember seeing Will Smith play when he was playing in OKC. If the Dodgers win because he got a home run in the 11th, I can’t help but be happy for him.

The Pokémon Go level rebalance has arrived. And with it, the rush of bonuses from going from Level 45 to 68 means that I have roughly 1,300 items above my bag size. So now I get to play “how much do I toss versus how long am I willing to wait before being able to spin stops again?”

It’s kind of funny that I find myself wishing there had been a longer wait for Mario Kart. The theming was so good, I wish I had more time to take in some of the little references. Also, you can barely see it in the photo, but that portrait of Bowser was signed by Miyamoto himself.
