I support the NYTimes because news groups doing the actual work of reporting are getting far too scarce. That being said, the editors are still tweaking this one. It's a bit better, but not by much.
New NYTimes teaser blurg:
"As Jack Smith Testifies, a Senator’s Accusation of Perjury Falters

"A Republican eager to prove the former special counsel was dishonest appeared to instead demonstrate his own confusion over basic facts."

As a (mostly) a machine knitter now, I have a couple of scarves I can post for #ShowMeYourKnits - scarf edition.
This was done in double-bed jacquard on a KH-940. The tree pattern is based on the Frostfangs pattern available in Ravelry. Reverse of the double-bed jacquard pattern, with a birds-eye backing and a full needle rib center section. This one is Fair Isle, but I added 'wings' that became the reverse, to hide the floats. The reverse shows the solid 'wings' sewn shut with mattress stitch to create the back side.

Do NOT go to the site mentioned. Below is an excerpt from Heather Cox Richardson's letter today, about a site Musk is funding. I will link to the full letter in the first comment.
From Heather Cox Richardson's letter today:
"Instead, Musk’s campaign urges people to go to “votesafe . org,” which collects their full name, home address, date of birth, email address, cell phone number, IP address and location (which identifies city and zip code), every link clicked, every page looked at, and voter registration status, among other information."

Note that her opponent in the runoff hasn't been called. That's because the GOP primary is all over the place, and I find comfort in that. All she has is name recognition and Trump's endorsement. May she and her eventual runoff mate trash each other endlessly.

Wow! The manicurist in the Marx Bros.'s "A Night at the Opera" has finally been identified! That identity - Jean Burt Reilly - has been a holy grail of hard-core Marx fans. It turns out that she had a long, award-winning career as a hair stylist for movies and TV. IMDB updates have begun.

I've had the old Trump Plaza jingle as an earworm lately. It describes what Trump thinks of as an irresistible desire and goal. We knew who he was then, and he was never shy about telling us. And here we are.

The departure of Sam Neill compelled me to do this odd little ukulele cover, kind of how he would do to pass the time during lockdown not so long ago. The more I learn about him, the more impressed I am by him.

Jim Wright (Stonekettle Station) shared some thoughts on that about 5 hours ago, I see.
Jim Wright's thoughts on the testosterone gambit:
---
Has Trump offered a Trump Brand Testosterone Supplement yet?
You know that's comming.
I mean, everything with this administration is a money making scam, right? You have to assume Hegseth's "we're screening everyone in the military for high testosterone levels" announcement yesterday was just more of the same. A month from now, we'll discover Don Jr has invested a couple million in boner futures and is on the board of Man-Juice Inc which now has a military contract with the Pentagon for Tactical-T supplements.

A very recent update from the NYTimes:
NYTImes update (Campbell Robertson):
In a social media post, President Trump said he would wait out the weather and still deliver his speech: “I don’t care if it’s 2:00 O’Clock in the morning, or in one hour from now.” Saying he was leaving the White House soon, he declared: “It’s Saturday night, LETS HAVE SOME FUN, even if we are out late tonight. They say 11:00 O’Clock for the speech. Who cares???”

This is so reminiscent of an an excerpt from a 2015 Vanity Fair article:
I watched as Trump strutted around the beautifully groomed clay tennis courts on his estate, managed by noted tennis pro Anthony Boulle. The courts had been prepped meticulously for a full day of scheduled matches. Trump took exception to the design of the spaces between courts. In particular, he didn’t like a small metal box—a pump and cooler for the water fountain alongside—which he thought looked ugly. He first questioned its placement, then crudely disparaged it, then kicked the box, which didn’t budge, and then stooped—red-faced and fuming—to tear it loose from its moorings, rupturing a water line and sending a geyser to soak the courts. Boulle looked horrified, a weekend of tennis abruptly drowned.

Today, June 10: “I love the inflation.” Yesterday, June 9:
As described by The New Republic,
"Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. trade deficit had “widened by the most in nearly 34 years,” linking an article from six months ago that said that the trade gap had increased 94.6 percent to $56.8 billion after exports tumbled in November. As of April, the trade deficit is even wider at $55.9 billion."

Excerpt: "Taken months before the decision to annihilate the Jews of Europe was made, these 98 photos do not show extermination camps, gas chambers, shootings or even starvation. What they do show is the careful, methodical beginnings of racially motivated separation that later enabled the mass murder. The noted historian Raul Hilberg called this phase of the Nazi genocide “concentration.” There is no sign of outright violence; indeed, the despair of the ensnared Jews and their bewildered spouses is shown with a strange sensitivity by the German photographer."

I hope that @gelliottmorris.com of 'Strength in Numbers' is correct.
Test of excerpt:
"Every safe-seat Republican who hugs Trump tighter to clear their primary makes the GOP brand a little more toxic in the swing seats their colleagues are trying to hold. Every time Trump endorses a challenger in a safe seat because they have demonstrated their loyalty, it is a small advertisement that the GOP is, first and foremost, the Trump party — and that is precisely the message swing-seat Republicans currently need to avoid. By endorsing primary challengers, in other words, Trump is costing his party the majority in November."
