Shit got medieval.

Venison stew, chunks of neep and pearl onion peaking out. Stew dumplings looking like Eldritch horrors sit atop like Hapsburg bread monarchs. There's roast potatoes and charred broccoli served to try to distract you from the fact that this stew has so much butter in it, it will give you gout just by looking at it.

I made Potatoes Boulangère to go with some Steak, parsnip and carrot mash and roasted shallots my father in law got at a farm shop. First time cooking something wildly outside my skill set in a while, and I'm feeling pretty good about it.

A half eaten bowl of Potatoes Boulangère. Thin slices of potatoes, herbs all cooked in reducing chicken stock have left everything looking deep and brown and delicious, though annoying to clean up.

Got a friend's potluck tomorrow, and this is the first time in a while I've cooked for a vegan crowd. Made some adjustments for Dishoom's House Black Daal, and it's worked an absolute treat.

Daal on the boil. It's right at the start of a 3 hour journey, so it looks like a spiced lentil soup.
