New study with @maureenpage.bsky.social @jsfrancis.bsky.social et al finds that honeybee competition reduces the nutritional quality of wild bee pollen diets 🐝 But, including high-protein plant species in wildflower plantings can partially mitigate these negative effects 🧪🌍 doi.org/10.1111/1365...

Come study pollination ecology in S. Florida! Recruiting graduate students (as well as a postdoc). 🌎🌾
A grad school job ad.

text reads: We take an interdisciplinary approach to understand how floral phenotype impacts interactions with pollinators, microbes, and co-flowering pants. Two fully funded graduate student positions (combination of TA and RA) through the integrative biology doctoral program at Florida Atlantic University available. Stipend are nationally competitive and include summer funding. Students will have the opportunity to collaboratively design a project that fits their interests and goals. Students interested in pollinator behavior, chemical ecology, and community ecology (of plants and microbes) will fit best in the lab. Projects can span the gamut from lab-based pollinator behavioral trials and experiments with synthetic microbial communities to field-based plant community ecology in the highly diverse ecosystems of South Florida. To apply prospective students should email Dr. Jake Francis (Jacob.franci@gmail.com), with a cv and brief description of their research
