Unnerving encounter in the dark this morning. Absentmindedly walking, I heard skittering before seeing a pair of glowing red eyes hovering ahead. More skittering and two more sets of eyes. The way they’re curiously assessing me . . . to what ends I didn’t want to find out. I crossed the street.

Went to visit Seattle big-bottomed girl the other day. Took 8 hours to cover an ~11 mile loop because it was a day for stopping and just . . . stopping. Crazy busy but hang around someplace long enough there'll be moments and even long minutes of solitude while it all just happens.

I do not like that Mitch McConnell video because I have seen people I love in a similar state and I definitely do not love Mitch MicConnell but my experience causes me a twinge of empathy for someone who is a horrible human. Like one of the worst. It makes me uncomfortable.

Yep. Chicago suburbs born and raised while spending a lot of time over the last 25 years with NE Iowans who sound like a amalgam of MN/WI.

A color coded map of the United States showing I sound most like someone from the upper Midwest, with some California thrown in and least like someone from the South. Cities most like me all tied at 53% are Milwaukee, Chicago and LA and last like me are New Orleans, Atlanta and Houston.

In the past week I’ve encountered 3 cars driving the wrong way down 45th st in the Burke Gilman bike lanes between 9th and 14th around 6am-ish. Not sure if it’s related to the school bus depot that seems to have opened this week next to the CSR Marine building. Seems likely tho.

My gf works downtown, and so many times since the world cup she's come home and said "There must be some event going on, there's so many people out, the waterfront is packed" and we've looked it up, and nope, it's just summer and people like coming here. As they should. Lucky to live here.

Not a bad place to watch a game. 1st time at Mariner’s park. 1st professional baseball game since like 2019. Very rude of Randy to do that and ruin it for me. Happy for the kids who got to experience it tho. Also, totally forgot Bregman played for the cheating Astros. Respect for the booing.

It’s great to feel empathy for other people but if a person is causing harm the first and most important thing is to direct empathy at the people being harmed and to stop the harmer from harming. Then we can move on to empathy for them and Why They Are That Way and helping them to not be.

The smoke is back, I guess. I just saw the news about the Grand Park fire in Rainier, one of my favorite places in the whole park. Fire season sucks. #photography

Cooling my feet after a hike on a day of changeable weather. Sometimes hot and sunny, sometimes spitting rain, sometimes cool and gusty; just like it's supposed to be in the mountains. But at least no hazy smoke.
