It's votin' day! Advance polls are open in Alberta, so it's time to review the referendum questions you'll be voting on. 3/3
9.	Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to better protect provincial rights from federal interference by giving a province’s laws dealing with provincial or shared areas of constitutional jurisdiction priority over federal laws when the province’s laws and federal laws conflict?

Translation: Currently, Alberta has to abide by Canadian laws. Should provinces be able to ignore Canadian laws and actively seek to do that?

10.	Should Alberta remain a province of Canada, or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?
Option 1: Alberta should remain a province of Canada.
Option 2: The Government of Alberta should commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada.
(Self explanatory)

Alberta Referendum Questions & Translations

Non-constitutional questions
Translation 1: Should the UCP intrude into federal responsibilities and control migrant entries across provincial borders, decree what jobs migrants are allowed to have and even then allow them to be bumped out of any jobs that arise by Canadian citizens residing in Alberta?

Translation 2: Should the UCP label any immigrants they deem undesirable with an Alberta-disapproved status and strip them of access to public services such as healthcare, education and other social services?

Translation 3: Assuming you realize that immigrants working legally in Alberta typically pay into your pension and pay provincial taxes, do you support stripping them of access to any provincial social support programs for the first 12 months they live in Alberta?

4.	Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for public health care and education as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta charging a reasonable fee or premium to individuals with a non-permanent immigration status living in Alberta for their and their family’s use of the healthcare and education systems?

Translation: Assuming you realize that immigrants working legally in Alberta typically pay into your pension and pay provincial taxes, and that permanent residency can take decades to get, do you think immigrants should be forced to pay for healthcare and education for themselves and their families?

Drove out to our family’s farm house north of Edmonton for our Thanksgiving feast. As I drove through Sturgeon and Westlock Counties, I kept my eyes peeled for separatist signs. Didn’t see a single one. But I did spot four Canadian flags, for which I gave thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to all. #Alberta
