I think people would be less likely to buy large vehicles if it was a huge pain in the ass to drive them here, especially in cities. Higher gas prices are part of it. But there should be extra fees and taxes based on weight. Parking your giant Suburban should be incredibly difficult. etc.

The WAR ON WALKING has taken many forms around the world. It’s often as simple as how we signal who space is and isn’t for. Once our eyes are opened to all the ways we’ve prioritized cars over people, we can’t unsee it. Frustrating photo contributed by @stadsplanering.bsky.social. #WarOnWalking
Background photo from North Macedonia, where “sidewalks are mostly used to park cars” as explained by photo contributor Carl-Henrik Barnekow. Text says “Don’t buy the lie that there’s a war on cars. I want people to be able to drive a car if they choose to! I also want everyone who doesn't want to own a car or can't afford it to be able to walk, bike, or take high quality public transit with efficiency, safety, and enjoyment, no matter their age, ability, or income status.

You'll never hear me helmet-shame a person on a bike, but I absolutely judge people who don't bother to put lights on their bike after dark. This isn't just because of cars, but for everyone's safety, no matter if it's pedestrians or others on bikes.

Motorists act like people who hate cars never drove or used them. Often the opposite. We hate car dominance because we lost a lot of time in cars and we've realized there was never any freedom behind the windshield and that true freedom is outside. We seem crazy because we escaped the matrix.

We spend a lot of public money trying to slow down drivers on their infrastructure in order to reduce vehicular violence. It seems to me that we could spend far less money on speed mitigation if we'd simply regulate the auto industry's allowable design.

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities
Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

As a CDL holder, I know firsthand the training required to handle heavy vehicles safely. We urgently need stricter licensing for massive, commuter-driven pickup trucks. A split-second distraction in a vehicle of that size has devastating implications for everyone and everything outside of them.

"Waymo has told advocates that expecting it to respect bike lanes is 'too high a bar' because customers expect to be dropped off in them." To be crystal clear, it's illegal for a car to be in a bike lane. It doesn't matter what Waymo's customers expect; the company shouldn't be doing it.
