Ward 13 Councillor Dan McLean should probably just quit and apply to work in MAGA hat-wearing Minister Devin 'Shields Up' Dreeshen's office as a policy analyst or something. He's not working for Calgary. He tried to get a job with Danielle Smith and didn’t make the cut. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

"That’s two reports in two days about how the U.S. could be a bigger player in Canadian referendums than it has ever been before. Should that concern us? You bet it should," writes @susandelacourt.bsky.social. #Gift 🎁 #CdnPoli www.thestar.com/gift-redeem?...
The Globe investigation also shows how the tools of potential interference have changed radically since 1995. It documented how Republican strategists with ties to Trump went to Calgary to push software that was billed as instrumental for Trump in the last presidential election campaign.

That software, adapted for use in the Alberta referendum, was part of a large data breach, which Elections Alberta said in court filings was connected to a voters list supplied to the Republican Party of Alberta in 2025.

None of this sophisticated machinery was available 31 years ago, nor did would-be foreign meddlers have access to social media and podcasts to wade into a debate that should be up to Canadians to wage and decide for themselves.

A miniature figure reclines casually in a blue deck chair on top of a giant tennis ball against a bright turquoise background. The image is paired with a quotation by Deirdre Mitchell-MacLean: “How small are you willing to make your world until everyone agrees with you?” The visual humorously suggests someone retreating into a small, self-contained world where everyone agrees with them.

IN RESPONSE TO THE LIES TOLD BY THE GLOBE AND MAIL I OFFER THE FOLLOWING RESPONSE

It is a complete lie that we offered the US anything when we visited Washington on behalf of Albertans in favour of Alberta Independence.

We were private citizens. We had no government mandate to offer anything. We only went to Washington to express the aspirations of hundreds of thousands of Albertans for a free and independent Alberta and to gauge US support for such a project.

We were gratified by the expressions of enthusiasm by US officials and the fact that Citizens of Alberta receive a far warmer welcome in Washington than we would ever receive in Ottawa.
