IMO, the protests on April 5 were highly effective. There were thousands of organized protests, attended by millions. Those of us who went felt the camaraderie & expressed our frustration. As far as I know, all of the protests that day were 100% peaceful, as they should be.

Call me radical. Rather than relying on corporate media for information, I listen to lawyers talking about the law and litigation, doctors when it comes to healthcare, teachers regarding education, trans folx when it comes to trans rights, a history professor when it comes to history, and so on.

In New York State, we rank 43rd in voter participation. Last year voter turnout dropped by nearly 1 million votes. Why? Closed primaries. If you’re an independent voter, you don’t get a say—even though your taxes fund these elections. Meanwhile, only 15% of those who can vote actually do.
