The major barrier to new renewables coming online is interconnection and transmission. Is it not desirable to remove that barrier? Like what's the better alternative? The Datacenters risk all just and adding gas behind the meter

Dont you want electrification to occur? We don't have enough capacity *in the US context* to supply for electric vehicle charging, HVAC.

Construction capacity? Maybe? But housing is needed in big cities. Diff geographic distribution to dc buildout

If there's a concern about crowd out (which, I'll stay out of, others disagree on this) then crowd out of what? Capital? Seems unlikely, datacenters are not causing interest rates to rise. Manufacturing is being wrecked by tariffs and other risks

Like if it's a bubble, then they'll just fail, noone else cares. If the demand is not going away (it's probably not), then there's an opportunity to avoid harmful noxious gas turbines and grid infra upgrades to be paid for *if* legislators push for their grid connection and emissions compliance

tired @joy.bleak.life · 09/10/2026
Now is the time to use the buildout to demand grid upgrades and help the energy transition? Like I'm not sure what value there is in trying to block their construction when the interests could be aligned www.volts.wtf/p/making-sen...

Haven't tried, the effect is really only modifies on the sour spectrum so you need really to experiment with flavors which contain some sour to get the best effect

Public *benefit corp /nonprofit I meant to say

tired @joy.bleak.life · 07/10/2026
But it's hard to see many folks having an incentive to do it. Needs a public backed corp and (cheap) subscription model perhaps. I would try to build it myself were I not an exhausted h1b indenture.

Was talking to some friends about missing 2008 era fb ability to share photos with friends. To do it these days, in a privacy preserving manner, such that the platform couldn't use it, and with guards against reselling data... I think is quite possible, not too hard to make.

but in their defense most meat eaters seem unwilling to engage with the brutality of farming, so I'm more sympathetic there tbh. Meat eaters: If you're gonna eat it, you should be willing to kill it with your own hands lol.

To be sure, this is only part of the annoying behavior. The degree to which vegans often appear unaware of the brutality of the natural world; concluding that it's somehow less vicious than it really is also annoying;

I'm not sure why PETA comes across like a psyop, but one day I hope to read some research about it from a sociocultural or organizational behavior perspective. I suspect there's loads to be written about adverse selection effects of nonprofits combined with the zeal of the virtuous.

Then tax us and build public housing as well! Let's just build more and ensure that everyone has a roof over their head. (I don't disagree that landlords can be hostile, Rent controlled housing is famously like this) Neighborhoods will always change. But we should look after folks.
