I was expecting your reply to include some of those words you enjoyed exchanging with one another in Bucharest! ;)

Sorry to hear this Jack! We don’t normally throw anything out without giving members plenty of notice. I don’t remember either of those things coming up recently. If you can send me details I might be able to get them replaced.

Avo 4 is here 🎉 15 months, ~2000 commits, and about 50 teams kicking the tires. It's a full redesign, not a fresh coat of paint. A safer way build your internal tools 🧵

Do you have a way of checking how well the new solution performs against the old way at scale? Sounds like a 1/1,000 failure rate wouldn’t be acceptable.

Jonathan Markwell @jot.is · 11/06/2026
Urlbox pricing drops significantly at volume (especially if the PDFs are small/simple). But if they are simple and you’re not hitting any infrastructure issues Fable’s solution is likely just fine. :)

Jonathan Markwell @jot.is · 11/06/2026
That’s a lot of PDFs! 😅 Who’s going to read them all?

Jonathan Markwell @jot.is · 11/06/2026
Now that sounds like a good challenge for Fable!

It’s a significant chuck of Urlbox’s business. $150 would by about 30,000 URLs/HTML to PDF and some Friendly human help when you need it :)

Urlbox got SOC 2 Type II attested in January. It’s made enterprise deals much easier (even when they don’t require it). And while it’s a bit of a slog, all the competing platforms in the space have made the process much cheaper and more straightforward than it would have been a couple of years ago.

Similarly I’d rather 1,000 companies make it to £1 million revenue than one gets to £1 billion.

I’ve been putting off doing that. I’d approach this by first putting Claude code into /plan mode then giving it a prompt like: “Upgrade this project from tailwind 3 to tailwind 4 follow this guide: tailwindcss.com/docs/upgrade... and take before and after screenshots to ensure no visual impact.”

BBC international editor Jeremy Bowen, speaking to the FT, on impartiality www.ft.com/content/b139...
Later, he tells a story about impartiality. In Sarajevo in 1992, he saw the shelling of two children’s funerals. “I wanted to do a piece to camera saying, this is the most monstrous war crime you can imagine. I wanted to rant.” Then his BBC instincts kicked in. “I just described what happened.” Nineteen years later, the piece was used as evidence against Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić. “I remember thinking, if I’d got on my soapbox, would they be admitting it in the war crimes tribunal? I don’t think so.

Wondering if this is more or less likely to be true now. Might depend on definition of a SaaS.
