Wonderful new review on BookSirens for The Chosen One Con! 😍

A screenshot of a five star review on BookSirens with the following text: What a great read. A new twist on magic, great characters, good story line and well paced action. Gave a good commentary on political corruption, abuse of power, separation of classes, controlling the population, and the desire for freedom. LGBTQ+ people portrayed as the real people they are. The further I got into the book, the harder it was to put down.

Piracy and pirate ships for my QuickSilver trilogy, featuring vampires who used to be pirates in Charleston’s Golden Age of Piracy. I absolutely fell down a research whole with that one. So much fascinating history, including free driving and the earthquake that buried Port Royal in 1692. #TBBChat

I tend to use character art as rewards for myself for finishing the writing rather than during, but I draw timelines and maps to help as I go along. I drew this map for my book The Wolf and the Water before I even started writing. #TBBChat

Bickering that’s ACTUALLY flirting. My absolute favourite 😂 This is from May Day. Jack Valentine and Killian Drake bicker-flirting specifically is probably my favourite thing to write in the whole world. #TBBChat

Text reads:
I’m paying for our drinks when a familiar voice distracts me. I turn towards it without thinking and, although I turn away quickly, it’s too late to pretend I haven’t seen him. He’s already coming this way.
‘Jack Valentine,’ he says.
Fuck.
‘Twice in one day. What are the chances?’
I down my gin and wave to the bartender for another. ‘I thought you didn’t like the opera.’
‘I made an exception for a friend,’ Drake says, resting against the bar next to me.
‘I really hope you’re not talking about me.’
‘Do you?’ he says, leaning in closer. ‘Because I can hear your heart racing.’
He’s right; it is. Damn him and his Silver hearing.
I grit my teeth. ‘That’s because I’m trying to stop myself from decking you in front of all these nice people. Why don’t you do us both a favour and remove the temptation. Go away.’
He pushes back from the bar. ‘Well, you know where to find me. I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other again soon.’
‘I seriously hope not.’
Thankfully, Cam joins us then. He nods to Drake and says, ‘Sir,’ because I suppose technically the bastard is our superior. The captain’s superior, too. Still, I can’t suppress my derisive snort.
‘Don’t mind Jack,’ Cam says.
‘Oh, I don’t mind her at all,’ Drake says, smiling at Cam. ‘Enjoy the opera.’
I’m spitting tacks by the time he’s out of earshot.

I’m going for ‘plain’ instead of bland. This one’s from Valentine’s Day (Seekers bk4) #TBBPrompt #Writing

Text on a green background reads: “They make a striking couple, striking enough that it makes me wonder. There’s Carlotta with her dark hair and her light brown skin and impeccable taste, then Leclercq with her platinum hair and pale skin and taste so boring I have literally never noticed what she’s wearing – for the record, tonight it’s black jeans and a black T-shirt. They’re about the same height, and if you ignore Leclercq’s relatively plain features, side by side they look a little like negatives of each other.”
