100% I also think about another Apple original, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed where they show a character dropping their Apple AirPod™ into someone's car to "track" them and then they show a non-apple piece of software doing the actual tracking (which is a questionable plot point in of itself)

I also take issue with the tv format vs. movie. the jarring cut between episode 9 → 10 really killed the momentum of what should have been the crescendo of the whole story. and E9 ends in daytime and E10 begins at night? I get it, some time has passed but watching back to back was confusing/messy

also, way too many Apple product placements: “I have the birth certificate as proof! It’s on my iPhone 13 Pro Max™, just conveniently unlock it with Face ID™ because my hands are tied behind my back!” 😩

Cape Fear was ok but it was way too drawn out. knowing the original movie was 2hrs long, there’s absolutely no reason to spend 7+ hours telling the same story. should have been a 4 part mini series at most, and I have a pretty good attention span when it comes to film and tv.

the economics of artists being paid per stream (ahem spotify) also encourages artists to make shorter songs to try and game the system

nice. it kinda reminds me of fraktur/blackletter typefaces but rendered in a more techy way. as an alternate, try increasing the contrast between vertical lines compared to the horizontal/diagonals. these were drawn with a calligraphy pen at a 30 degree angle, give or take

there's a kind of crummy shopping center/mall near me and they have a sign on the door when you're leaving that says "We'll see you again soon." and it feels like a threat

woah… had no idea date caramel was a thing. the other day my wife wanted an iced coffee so i blended a fresh espresso shot with a few chopped dried dates, then poured it over ice and it was so good.

interesting that Substack doesnt allow you to put alt text in an image but does include, for some inexplicable reason, to include a prediction market in your post?
the bottom of the "compose" dialog on Substack showing an overflow menu with "prediction market" as the only menu item

haha oh nooo! my biggest gripe so far with Tahoe is that the indicator for changing the volume is now in the top right instead of centered like it has been for the last 15+ years…

this looks a bit mangled (read: beloved) but my New York style cheesecake turned out really good. it was an absolute hit crust was made of Digestives and I reduced the sugar a bit overall to accentuate the cheese/sour cream combo

I got a request from a family member to bake a cheesecake. I've never baked one before, so I tried a test batch of a Japanese-style cheesecake recipe (no photo, ate it too fast) but it came out too similar to a pancake, so I think I'm gonna try New York-style for my next batch.

in a remarkable twist of fate, I've ended up watching 3 Rob Corddry performances all within a few weeks of each other. Curb Your Enthusiasm (S5, E7): 2005 Ballers: 2015 The Audacity: 2026 I remember Rob from his time on The Daily Show (2002-2006) which predates his appearance on Curb
Rob Corddry shown in 3 of his roles from 2005, 2015, and 2026.

tbh your orange on your site does not give me the same vibe as claude, no worries. this example is more about the totality of all of the colors across the whole page which leads me to believe this was a bit too "inspired" = even the text color is exact same hue, just changed ever so slightly.

why does every website look like Claude now? these colors are a comparison between a product by a very well-known VC guy's new company vs. Claude. can you tell which is which? have we ran out of ideas so quickly that everything must be directly ripped 1:1 and not even changed a little bit?
6 color samples arranged in 2 columns, marked A and B. The color samples are pulled from text color, background color and brand accent.

in-app survey Figma just sent me. I think they're getting nervous or maybe rediscovering who their audience actually is
A survey in Figma reading:
"Thinking of your work in the last 6 months, which of these most accurately represents your experience?"

Options (check boxes):
I wrote/edited/generated code mainly for exploration or prototyping
I wrote/edited/generated code intended to be eleased to users (shipped to production)
I didn't write/edit/generate code

I made Salt Bread for the first time over the weekend, with a crucial edit: I “pretzeled” the outside by dipping in an alkaline (bicarb soda) solution. the result was perfect. interior cavity created by the butter block and a chewy exterior crust. I think i will develop this further.

one of my (least?) favorite Dark Patterns is in the iOS Music app. I have never once used or wanted to search Apple Music for anything, and when I search in this app, my sole reason for doing so is to search my own Library, and yet, every single time the "Apple Music" tab is selected by default.
the search bar in apple's "Music" app with "Apple Music" tab selected by default.

this 26.5 update also disabled my @raycast.com, and even Spotlight didnt work. For the past 15+ years, I've been under the impression Apple would not be overriding the user's preferences when updating OS versions, guess that's been tossed out 🤷‍♂️

I was just forced into updating to mac OS 26.5 and they changed the volume slider apparently. this looks like shit and due to the transparent background, it's harder to see what % your volume is set to anyway, somebody has an open source fix to put it back the way it was github.com/waydabber/Be...
