Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay from January 3, 1909.

As Nemo puts his toy animals back inside a toy ark, they slowly grow in size and come alive until they are real animals flooding out of the ship.

I’m having fun uploading old and new and newish old music on Soundcloud. Almost daily uploads. Lots of synths and drum machines, weird experiments, odd demos. Take a listen! m.soundcloud.com/jvelez-40605... #electronicmusic #blueskymusic #synthsky

Whoa! Watching the Eddie Murphy doc on Netflix and blindsided by Eddie comparing “Ridiculousness” to #Jodorowsky 🤯

I hadn’t painted on canvas in 28 years until two days ago. It was a strange and lively feeling. Cheap canvas and acrylics wielded with love. #artsky #painting #blueskyart

His passing has made me remember how many hours I’ve spent listening to Soft Cell over the years as well as what I loved about synthesizers and their evocative nature when approached with love and a wild imagination. Thank you, Dave Ball.

The way his synths seemed to almost wheeze to life, burst with a decadent grandeur or careen around jagged drum programs influenced how I programmed my own machines when I was regularly making music. I held - and hold -his style as a hallmark of electronic music production.

Dave Ball’s passing is sad and bittersweet for me. Of all the 80’s UK synth geniuses Ball was, for me, the one who really touched me with the way he programmed his machines and constructed his arrangements. I was happy to be able to tell him this on FB some years ago.

A Holy Grail book when I was a kid. Found a beautiful mint copy today at the weekly antiquarian book market. €10 ( haggled down from €15). I almost popped a gasket when I saw it. #illustration #barrysmith #jeffjones #mikekaluta #berniwrightson

This quote came to mind thinking back on the last 10 years of influential, wonderful yet human persons who’ve left this plane. And what we’re left with… from a very old Arabic poem: “Iniquitous, unequalling death I would not complain if you were just but you take the worthy leaving fools for us.”

Had it as well. The first time waking up choking for air is terrifying. Having to sleep sitting up was indeed awful.

One of my absolute faves!! Love the art direction and location shooting plus that great, synthy score. Has a proper mystical, folkloric vibe. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I watched the new “Batman Ninja” the other night. It was very fun - as was the first one - but after about a half hour the highly detailed and rendered animation style almost made my eyes glaze over. It was enjoyable enough so they didn’t. Less is More wins for me any time, though. I’m a Toth-ian.
