Sweet Song. I'd rank it above The Universal and No Distance Left To Run in terms of being that beautiful, tear-inducing, emotional ballad.

Yes it's pricey, but that's a lot of good kit miraculously packaged into a small space that happens to do a lot of tricks (eg mouse mode!?) I hope Nintendo wins big time. Their platform and approach to gaming is still the most exciting of the lot.

Hoping the bad online vibes around the Switch 2 don't rock the boat too much. I'm still thankful we have a Nintendo that is still in the hardware game after dancing so close to the edge with the Wii U and gambling everything on the original Switch.

If it's a 4th wall joke that they tried to get someone that approximates a Leslie Nielsen and they cast Liam Neeson, that in itself is comedy gold.

There are “Esperanto” ideas, proposals which sound great, but are complex and impractical, and so they never take off. There also are “tweet” ideas, trivial things which don’t seem to do much at all, but are simple and appealing to everyone, and so they spread everywhere.

Kinda depressing to see so many replies on X which consist of "Grok, is this real?", "Grok, explain this", "Grok, what is this?" Readily offloading thinking in public probably isn't a good skill.

I'm so late to the game with this one. After struggling a bit reading from the primary source, Jung's work is coming through crystal clear in this book.

That would be awesome! Here's hoping they do 🤞 Thanks again for the amazing work you've been putting into Launchbar - it really is the best of the bunch (even amongst the flashy newcomers!)

@ptujec.bsky.social Hey Christian - thank you so much for all of the work you do in terms of adding new actions to Launchbar. I love the new Menus action - quick question: is there any way for the items to be accessible from the root search? eg pressing Cmd+Space and CT for Close Tab in Safari? Thx!

Update: went a bit crazy here, got an M4 iPad Pro and a MIDI controller. I'm addicted to this stuff. My fallback excuse was "it'll make a nice work computer if I don't get along with music creation" but the touch interface for tweaking + physical dials and keys is a lovely balance.

I'm thinking a portable synth would be a nice next step. Korg's Volca FM2 looks like fun and it might be nice to pair with a drum machine (either another Korg Volca or a PO Tonic)? I have one eye on an iPad but I love the feel of actual hardware buttons for this... that matters for some reason.

Trying to enter the music creation world from very humble beginnings - I have a Pocket Operator KO 33 (which I love dearly), but I'm in the market for making music and I want to build a nice setup without breaking the bank (just in case I'm really, really bad at it). Any recommendations?

What do you make of it so far, Andy? I loved Burkeman's 4000 Weeks and also gobbled up The Antidote immediately after. He's a terrific writer.

Maybe it's just the time of the season that naturally reaches back, but this feels quite unmistakable. The more I try to cling to it the more it seems to become unstable - I'll just try enjoying it while it lasts.

Emerging from this - really strange but great thing happened once the depersonalisation subsided, I felt more detached from my current idea of self (running a business, and the stresses of) and seemed to reassemble a sense of "true" self akin to my late teens. Felt like I met an old friend again.

Whatever this cold/flu/virus thing is that is knocking about, it's grim. I know I'm a bit of a precious flower but so far it has been: 2x nights of fever dreams 1.5x days of a real depersonalised feeling Not nice.

Excellent find! I'll have to get my hands on a copy. Do you know of any publications with a similar thing for the middle part of their catalogue (S/T, 13, Think Tank)? It's my favourite era of Blur, and I'd love to read up on the deeper cuts like Battle etc (/cc-ing @stuartmaconie.bsky.social)

Endtroducing... by DJ Shadow was today's daily album. It's one of those ones I just don't understand the degree of outsized acclaim that it gets. I know it's clever sampling, but for me, Paul's Boutique (in a similarish vein) is much more impressive.

000

Jordan Moore 🕊️ @jordanm.co.uk · 16/12/2024

Exactly. And it shouldn't be seen as a conspiratorial stance to say that either, because you just know that the world we live in post 9:03am on Sept 11th 2001, doesn't just let unknown objects fly freely around that same patch of sky no less. It makes no sense to me.

Jordan Moore 🕊️ @jordanm.co.uk · 16/12/2024

Also, declaring "it's definitely not foreign tech" leaves a gap open of: - Military project that the military forgot to tell the military about - Black project - Supervillain-like hobbyist - Completely unexplainable UAP

000

Jordan Moore 🕊️ @jordanm.co.uk · 16/12/2024

It doesn't help that a lot of people are posting images of planes in queue/holding formation, and helicopters. BUT, there are also a heck of a lot of unexplainable things appearing too. It's not a good look for the military if they genuinely can't pinpoint where they're coming from.

100

Jordan Moore 🕊️ @jordanm.co.uk · 16/12/2024

Ooh, the whole UAP thing is one of my favourite rabbit holes. I grew up wanting to believe, fell out with it via a massive dose of skepticism for a couple of decades, then the 2017 NYT article pulled me right back in The drone situation is very, VERY odd. We're definitely not getting the full story

Yep! About a year for me also. The search results reminded me of the good ol' web where it wasn't just X/Facebook/Reddit/and any other heavy ad-funded results. Kagi does a great job of surfacing much more gold than Google's incentivised (and therefore compromised) search results.

What a shot. The whole thing has a sense of familiarity about it. The colours, the man in the window looking outside, satisfied with a day's work as the sun goes down yet knowing there is more to do on the project tomorrow. The clothes too - it's my grandad/it's somebody's grandad in their element.

Just to sound extra fussy about this stuff, I've been through a bunch of different editors like VS Code which are very much "in the Mac but not *of* the Mac" for lack of a better way of describing what I'm looking for.

020

Jordan Moore 🕊️ @jordanm.co.uk · 16/12/2024

I've got one eye on Espresso (espressoapp.com) as it feels closer to the original Coda which was peak Mac-assness for me.

I'm on a strange binge of collecting up Mac-assed apps and I'm stuck trying to find a satisfying code editor. I'm a Nova user but I feel like it's a bit over-the-top and it gets away from the simplicity, and stubbornness-as-a-feature that seems typical of Mac-assed apps. Any recommendations?
