There has not been a better movie released since Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

This one was a thinker. It felt like listening to a college lecture and just absorbing the words but not understanding them. Then after reading the accompanying articles I would find myself saying “oh THAT’s what he meant when said XYZ”

Finally got some time to sit down and review the games I’ve been playing the last month. So here’s a Backloggd review thread with my quick thoughts!

Still thinking about the idea of “steam community layouts” for graphics settings from @andycortez.cool and @rogformer.bsky.social

Internet: “Don’t buy the digital-only, lackluster ports of Black Ops 1 & 2 on PS5!” @matpiscatella.bsky.social in August: “BLOPS 1 & 2 were the best selling games of July. They even somehow outsold BLOPS 7 YTD”

“Not including Nintendo, of course. They’re a different thing” is the video game podcast version of “Aside from Satoru Gojo, of course.”

There's a little less than 2 days left until the Steam Summer sale ends! 🌞 Pick up Pacific Drive and all its additional content for less than a real life oil change - it's 67% off until Thursday morning! 🚗🛢️🌲 store.steampowered.com/app/1458140/...

Or, maybe, we let Tom Hanks do one last performance in a movie that is about Woody breaking away from the main crew so that he has a nice send-off and we can focus on the other toys in sequels instead of bringing Hanks back! … oh wait

Was on the fence about Elliot after playing the demo because the combat seemed so basic. Then @andycortez.cool said to try the Alabaster Dawn demo instead and I bought it after only swinging the sword 3 times. Gimme that chop-chop-spin all day.

Thankful for @plante.bsky.social for talking about playing Marathon like an FPS Roguelike rather than an extraction shooter because it altered my brain chemistry and now I love Marathon.

I haven’t laughed this hard in a LONG time. I spent the last 15 minutes of this episode in tears

Feb-23: Lightfall came out to poor reception and no new PvP content. The Destiny 2 Dev Team (D2DT) said “we know yall want more PvP content.” May-23: Bungie announced Marathon, a heavy PvP game. Aug-23: D2DT told us that they did not have enough devs to make new PvP content. It stung a bit.

I wrote a very rambly review about Pacific Drive from @ironwood.bsky.social and how it provided me with a gaming experience unlike any other which cemented itself as one of my all time favorites! … even though I didn’t even finish the main story bckl.gg/tIa2

FiteKnight's review of Pacific Drive | Backloggd

Pacific Drive enraptured me in a way that a game never has before. I was obsessed, and the developer even foreshadowed it. And yet, I didn't actually even finish the main story itself. I haven't read ...

Just bought a 3rd party game on Xbox for the first time in a LONG time. I was surprised to see that Crimson Desert supports Xbox Play Anywhere which means I bought the game once and I can play on my PC, Xbox SX, and ROG Ally X with cloud saves. I believe this feature is the winning formula for Xbox.

Hey @xanth.bsky.social! Caught you on KF last week reviewing the new Diablo expansion. Do you have any recommendations for an ARPG that isn’t dark/gothic fantasy? 😅

Dying laughing at Nintendo adding a custom Mario Galaxy theme to the NSO tab on the Switch 2 and you can even hit ZR to feed the Lumas, but they won’t add any real themes. @timgettys.bsky.social must be screaming.

I recently picked up Pacific Drive and I have become absolutely obsessed with it. Which is so weird because there are so many qualities about it that I typically don’t like, but there’s something about them all together that makes it captivating.

I know this has been highly requested, but I NEVER thought Nintendo would actually do this. The help page has so many asterisks about how this mode could result in unintentional errors. This is coming from the same company that disabled Bluetooth audio on the Switch 1 because of controller issues.

Over a year later but Mat’s rec never left my mind. I downloaded Cat Quest 3 last night on my iPhone because it’s a free demo with the full game as an IAP. Loved it. And it was only $5 to unlock the whole game??? It runs flawlessly and has controller support!!

Listening to yesterday’s GamesCast and hearing @rogformer.bsky.social use EA’s full government name “Electronic Arts” really made the irony set in with his prediction of them full-sending genAI into a game this year

Look @gameovergreggy.bsky.social I know you probably don’t care to watch a D&D playthrough, but this description of Titan Takedown from @dropout.tv might be the most Greg Miller coded show I’ve ever read.

White text on a black background that reads: “
In the new four-episode season of the long-running anthology actual play show, Mulligan hosts four WWE superstars — Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Bayley, and Chelsea Green — to a game set in a professional-wrestling-themed reimagining of Greek mythology. And despite its brevity, the season has become a playground for wrestling-loving Dimension 20 veterans, who were welcomed into a suite of extra skits and bits to celebrate their own fandom.”

I’m so grateful for @blessingjr.bsky.social and @rogformer.bsky.social’s summary of the Kendrick/Drake beef last year because seeing clips of the entire crowd at the Grammys singing “a minor” has the most hilarious context that I never would’ve known.
