You're confused. Apple almost never creates a really new product. What they do is create something better, that integrates nicely with their other stuff. The Duo is their first attempt at an Apple quality folding phone. Now everyone (especially Samsung) will copy it.

For what it's worth, this mother was engaged in exactly the opposite of helicopter parenting -- she was trusting her 5yo to take care of himself in a fairly safe environment. Good for her! I certainly did the same with my kids, occasionally worrying that some busybody would cause trouble for us.

As a kid, what could he do? Pretty much nothing. So that's what he did (according to Errol). I don't think that's bizarre. And unless you know more, "traveling with" is a pretty distant relationship. If it were his mother or sibling it would defintely be much weirder.

Demonstrates nothing. First, in spades, dad is an unreliable narrator. No reason to believe anything he says. And second, all the kid's behavior shows is that he's not excitable. Nothing useful he could do, so he stayed out of the way. Musk is so awful in so many ways, why pick this?

Since there are ~600,000 non-management workers in US Amazon warehouses, statistics say there should be 2-3 deaths on the job per day, most non-work related. Surely management must be trained to handle such a common occurrence gracefully. The only story I see here is (perhaps) why they aren't.
