less of a great argument when you remember that there are direct trains from Gatwick to North London, and they are reasonably priced unlike e.g. the Heathrow or Stansted Express

This summer I led a series of conversations in my lab about "AI" and our research. Some colleagues have shared "AI policies" for their labs and we discussed whether this would make sense for us. We decided it did not, and came up with a different approach. Please feel free to share & adapt!

Colleague didn't join a call but I had Gemini Notes switched on and it the transcript caught me talking to the cat.
Summary

Meeting logistics review addressed attendance verification and confirmed denial of additional catering requests.

Addressing Catering Request
Denial of secondary meal requests was finalized for shouting individuals. It was confirmed that participants had already consumed dinner.

Meeting Attendance Verification
Clarification regarding confirmed attendees occurred. Questions were raised about pending arrivals for the session.

Connection Status Check
Technical connection status was assessed. The presence of additional participants on the call remained under review.

for me the thread is good, the blog piece less so. IMO, straight copying someone else's sentences is definitely a form of plagiarism (not simply poor practice). However the points about honorary prof positions not counting for anything, and citations counting for a lot when hiring, are spot on

not sure if it's mentioned in the paper (it isn't in the abstract) but a big component of a lot of so-called "placebo effects" in clinical trials is really a statistical phenomenon - regression to the mean

Progress in Computational Psychiatry is is slowed down substantially because researchers (clinicians, cognitive neuroscientists, etc) lack the training in computational modelling and many studies dont follow the best practices in modelling. How can we change this? We've built the CPM toolbox:

I've long suspected this based on our own data - most variation in unselected samples is driven by low symptom scores, and it seems that most covariation is too. Seem important, especially re implications for the "p-factor". We need to confirm correlations from unselected samples in clinical ones

Shocker - who'd have thought brain function changes during different types of information processing! However, there is a lot of data suggesting that for connectivity it doesn't change nearly as much as for activation. Partly because a decent chunk of individual differences in fc are due to anatomy
