In Colorado you can register to vote up to and even on Election Day (but then have to vote in person). Jonathan @jonmo001.bsky.social · 28/09/2026At which point high school drop outs were being hired as “engineers”. That history repeats now. My point is that you will usually find OG engs to be eager to learn about “what came before” so we can learn more and that most titular “engineers”, aren’t. Newer engs maybe just cogs in the capitalism. 1151

Jonathan @jonmo001.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Before the title of engineer was bestowed, in some industries you had to become a “professional engineer”. Basically it was the apprentice program for engineering. Older industries had it, newer didn’t. Terms like “junior”, “assistant”, or “under” were HR’d away but by the 90s we still had… 180
Jonathan @jonmo001.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Next year will be my 30th year of engineering study, 29th as a career. The VAST majority of “engineers” are nominally called engineers because management lost the plot in the 90s. The graded scale of engineering progression used to start with a sub-set of terms depending on industry and profession. 1100
