Good to see the City Lights doc I worked on pop up on BBC Four tonight, I had the best time researching all the clips. Plenty of new interviews and some rarely seen bits of archive, including clips from the pilot with Billy Greenlees as Chancer and no studio audience.

It’s definitely worth watching, it’s very aware of genre cliches and often riffs on those, starting with the PI who wants a quiet life with closed cases but who keeps getting roped into open ones. Cannell scripts are great, but David Chase wrote Kolchak and Rockford so maybe try some of his?

Poor old Vincent Price, all he wanted was to be left alone with Joan of Arc and Abraham Lincoln, but ended up with Charles Bronson. Enjoyed House of Wax in 2D, though a 3D viewing is probably needed.

Doing my bit for Suffolk tourism and Lovejoy fandom. My review of The Bull in Long Melford, where an episode was set and my mate stayed in the room Ian McShane slept during filming, has hit 100 views. Sadly, few staff knew of its place in Lovejoy history or had heard of Charlie Gimbert.
