Toby Jones would make a good Doctor.

I'm watching Nation's Daloeks episodes with Hartnell, and the greatest thing about it is that you can hear the rollers as the Daleks move across the set floor.

I like modern Doctor Who, but I'd love to see a return to these tight 30-minute episodes with great atmosphere and script. Don't rely on the big ideas and special effects, get some solid sci-fi and creepy shit on the go.

That's enough writing for one day. Time for some Nation-era Doctor Who, I think.

I'm working on two fantasy IPs that are very close to my heart, so what better way to get inspiration and calm than by getting up at seven o'clock on a Sunday morning to go for a walk in the forest.

I liked most of the show but there were just elements that didn't click with me and what I wanted from an ALIEN series. I am looking forward to seeing where they go with it, though.

I was in Edinburgh for that exhibit - it was an absolute dream to see the very things that awed and inspired me as a child. I don't think I ever took as many photos as I did that day.

I need another game release holiday, I've not done that since my Dead Space days.

Add or take away bits so the players of the game have their own suprises but keep that core element, the entire batshit insanity of it all. Character episodes? Filler stories? Who's got time for that?!? Give me six 1-hour episodes of horror and revelation.

Don't *tell* the viewers about Unitology, *show* them with snippets of what caused it, show the whole damn thing as Issac's journey through the ship unravels the mystery and his mind.

Somebody wake up Hicks @jonmarkhicks.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I wouldn't make a Dead Space movie, I'd make a TV show. Combine both the fall of Aegis and the story of Isaac in the Ishimura by having him explore the ship and showing flashbacks to the colony pre-outbreak.

I really like it - the system is neat and simple, and the low-key magical elements really work for me as that's the kind of magic I like in my games, sort of understated and malleable. It's a game I'd love to get it to the table, and I hope Graham expands on it.

An old show about a beloved actor cooking long grain? Surely that's Vintage Rice.

I used to do archery when I was younger. Every Sunday, I'd take my bow and six arrows to the local club and fire off a few. I did it for ages. I was absolutely shit at it, like, totally useless. But I loved the feeling it gave me, that sense of being able to do it. I sometimes hit the target, too.

I miss my younger days, especially when I had my own place - I gamed every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, with the odd weekender binge just before payday when I had no pub money. Bliss. I had Star Wars D6, WFRP and Call of Cthulhu campaigns on the go simultaneously, I was the GM for all of them.

For me it's about atmosphere - as strange as it sounds, I prefer to play in the evening Autumn/Winter months, about 6:00pm to 10:00pm+, when it's dark outside and it's nice and cosy inside, like we're all tucked up for a night's storytelling.

TTRPG question; when is a good time to run a session? I like to play on evenings, pretty much any day, as it's a great way to close the day. What works for you? AM or PM? A weekday evening? A Friday or a Saturday night, or on a Sunday afternoon or night to round your weekend off? Or just whenever?

I think so, not just from a nostalgic standpoint but from the themes of the cartoon which were really deep and wove some excellent tales. I ran a very short campaign in the 90s and I drew from myth and fable worldwide, not just Greek. I'd also love to see a modern artistic take on the designs.

TV shows should not be this stressful to watch. Great stuff, but now I've got to wait 2 years for the final season. Booo.

Somebody wake up Hicks @jonmarkhicks.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

This is available and it'd be amazing to see some action - I've already had ideas for a TTRPG following on from the cartoon using the D6 System.

It makes me want to crack this baby out - the TTRPG from Guardians of Order. It's D20 based but the armour rule that changed it from AC to DR made combat pretty nasty, and it was a good resource for ASoIaF before the TV show began. I got this late in the day and I'd still like to run a campaign.

I'm really enjoying the third season of House of the Dragon. That first episode was a gut punch and it just spiralled from there. Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith are amazing in their roles. I know I'm going to end up doing a GoT and AKofSK rewatch. I love it.

I changed career a couple of years ago so I'm relatively new to the EHS field but if I get a supervisor r manager job it's pretty good money, and I've got job security where I am. But there's always a large part me - mainly my heart - that says to just go for it and write full time.

Back to the day job. I do enjoy it - I'm a fully qualified health and safety advisor - but I spend much of my time thinking about my creative writing. I always dreamed of being part of an in-house writing team when I was a kid but I'm not sure that kind of thing even exists anymore.

I'm not a fan of the 2001 Dungeons & Dragons movie, but the Justin Caine Burnett soundtrack is really good.

I figured I'd pick up the rest of the Dungeons & Dragons Honour Among Thieves action figures. There's not many and they're at good prices, now, this was only a fiver from HMV.

I'm watching the lore videos on the Game of Thrones Blu-rays, narrated by the cast, and with the animations they're bloody brilliant. The histories and myths of Westeros are excellent.

I found out today that Stabbing Westward did an amazing cover of Burn by The Cure and I thought cool let's check out the 2024 movie, I have vague recollections of a drunken viewing and I see why - being sober I spent the majority of the movie in 'but why' mode.
