David Warner was an excellent Yaztromo - he played it really well, that sense of cantankerous old fart mixed with knowledge and compassion. From now on, he is how I see and hear the crazy old wizard. I think Fighting Fantasy works as a drama, and a TV show for all ages would be cool.

I'm reacquainting myself with the Fighting Fantasy audio dramas. They're pretty good fun, and David Warner makes a fantastic Yaztromo. I got them all on Audible but I have the first CD. I might get physical copies of the rest for the collection.

It makes me want to crack this baby out - the TTRPG from Guardians of Order. It's D20 based but the armour rule that changed it from AC to DR made combat pretty nasty, and it was a good resource for ASoIaF before the TV show began. I got this late in the day and I'd still like to run a campaign.

There's not a lot of art for this, but what I am going to do is create simple images of the starships I'm designing using MSPaint. Mainly because I'm a fucking idiot, but also because I'm a fan of the simple line drawings from the 1980s SFB/FASA days. Say hello to the SS Eternity.

I also expanded the setting to give players a place to run around in, as well as some history and weight to the universe the game is set in. I'm really proud of it, but I think the simple setup and one-shot nature of Those Dark Places was a preferred design.

I think it's a cool game. It uses the CASE System as seen in the first game Those Dark Places, and the mechanics are the same, but there's a skill system so there's a chance to improve characters for longer campaigns, and extra rules for starships.

Okay, so my final plan is to create a single page for rules, a single page for a starship setting, and then 22-26 single-page adventures to represent an entire season. Could be fun. There's no release date, I'll just add to it when the mood takes me.

I'm adapting my Short Trek game to something inspired by Trek but keeping the action adventure theme of TOS series. Basically, TOS with the serial numbers filed off. I'm going to create a single book of 1-page rules, a starship, and a load of 1-page adventures. Anyway, this is WIP and all that.

I need to make more space for my ALIEN collection. Everything is stacking up on top of each other, I've got magazines in a folder that need framing, my expensive collectibles should be on proper display and I still have stuff in storage. I didn't spend all that time and money just to tuck it away.

A Star Trek TTRPG from the mid-90s that was pretty good was Prime Directive from Task Force Games. Set in the alternate Star Fleet Battles universe, it was a neat game that focused on away teams as special forces. It had a lot of character and played quite well, but I converted it to the D6 System.

I'm really feeling the Larson-class starship. The Original Star Trek version is cool but the Lost Era is a beauty. It just seems light a smooth and neat design, with a tight crew. I'd use this in my Lost Era TTRPG campaign for sure.

I love skeleton warriors. There's something compelling about them, like they're fighting out of spite of your spark of life. This stems from one of my favourite movies Jason and the Argonauts, and the fact it was the first foe I defeated in my very first D&D game in 1984. Art by Henrik Karppinen.

Watching a lot of Star Trek recently. Each time I see a space battle I always come back to my favourite: Enterprise vs Reliant in Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan. No nimble ships zipping about like starfighters, but big lumbering warships trying to get the better of each other. I want more of that.

The front cover has been printed too short. At first I thought it had been replaced but there's no staple marks to suggest it has been reattached. I can't find any information about mass printing errors, so maybe it's a one off? The cover seems to be original paper so I don't think it's been fixed.
