Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Milk first in tea? Jam or cream first on scones? And how should scone be pronounced? And which way round to hang your bog roll? These are matters it is obligatory to have a view on in England. Opting out is not an option. 150
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I have never drunk Pabst Blue Ribbon. But it’s American. And I’ve drunk lots of American beer. So my guess is it is weak piss. 010
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I don’t know. I think trolling is alive and well on Bluesky. And certainly the likes from seemingly very attractive women aka some fat sweaty bloke in Africa, keen to switch to Telegram or Signal, just keep on coming. Echo chamber, my arse. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 19/08/2026My 20 year old self, bag stuffed with Sartre, Camus etc, smoking Gauloises, would have said ‘and what’s the point in that?’. Of course, i grew up a bit, went to UCL and analysed concepts. And I never actually smoked Gauloises, but always liked the idea of doing so. 021
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Tragically, Jason Arday has died after a vicious press campaign over the last few weeks. The Government must urgently launch an inquiry into the culture of the press, and any role it had in his death. Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026It doesn’t answer my question though. If lowering entry grades for UK students means degree standards will be lower, then I’m against it. If it doesn’t, then I’m all for it. I went to Uni with BBD, got my degree, two MAs and a PhD (from Russel Group unis). Evidence please! 010
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026That’s not what the article was reporting though. The article was about grades. I ask my question again: what evidence is there that lower ‘A’ level grades lead to lower degree standards? 120
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026And why is universities ‘softening’ grade requirements a bad thing? Where is the evidence that this will lower degree standards? 110
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026He’s only just a boomer though. A year younger he’d be Gen X, like me. In my imagination that makes a lot of difference. But I fear Gen X are just as full of shit. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026I remember the frustration I had, in the Blair era, how no-one seemed very interested in politics. I craved for the days of divisive politics under Thatcher, Reagan, the apartheid regime in SA. Of course, the Blair era all turned to shit, and very stinky shit at that, but how I now crave those days! 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 09/08/2026I’ve never attended an event (gig, theatre etc) and held my phone up to film it. Indeed, I was never that keen on photography in old money (not the art, just me doing it). I’m far too immersed in the now, me. Oh, and I don’t know what ‘influencers’ are. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 20/07/2026Indeed. If this doesn’t work out, get rid of Prime Ministers. 010
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 13/07/2026At least one hour if you’re lost and male and with someone else. The indignity of asking for help!!! 010
Reposted by Jon LevettBalderdash @balderdash.bsky.social · 12/07/2026What a beautiful message. If only the media highlighted this type of dignity rather than the divisive negativity that some politicians prefer, the world would be a better place. 1343087
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 11/07/2026He’s an English footballer. He played golf with Trump. So what? Does that mean Trump supports England? David Lammy went fishing with JD Vance. Yet I seriously doubt Lammy is a Trumper. Indeed, I’m pretty sure Lammy loathes both Trump and Vance. We just do things sometimes. 030

Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Rush has a female drummer, not an issue for me at all. After all, Rush has a singer who sounds like a girl. ‘What about the voice of Geddy Lee, I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy? (I know him, and he does’). Pavement, Range Life. 010
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 13/06/2026Agreed. Context is everything, and ignored by the right wing free speech brigade. 010
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 12/06/2026When the tanks roll into London, we all know who will clapping (Farage, Lowe, Yaxley-Lennon, and their ilk). 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 11/06/2026The bit from Stephen Ogilvy’s family statement that just doesn’t get coverage it should: "We have many migrants who make a deeply valuable contribution to our country, including in our healthcare system and hospitality sector and we depend on them to make our country work." 130
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 25/05/2026Let’s face it. It’s no surprise Russians monitoring his phone. He’s a Russian asset. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Why? I had an amazing home in Dorset for many years, but only stayed there occasionally. It was an amazing home, but not my main residence which was in London (which was less amazing). 020
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 03/05/2026Nothing about being nice or indulging anything. Your original post was about discrimination, not about how we treat people in our personal lives. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 02/05/2026I agree. But don’t worry, we’re coming up to the commitment ceremony in MAFS Australia, and Celebrity Traitors UK soon to start. And of course end of the footy season. We can drag this platform back to reality. 130
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Nothing to do with respecting religions. It’s about not discriminating against people who hold religious beliefs, however odious. 120
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 30/04/2026That’s a bit like saying discrimination against white people is ok because some white people discriminate against people of other colour. So the answer is ‘no’, it is not justified.e.is 100

Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 08/04/2026Karoline Leavitt just used the word ‘effectuated’. I thought she’d made this up, and I even smiled at her ‘mistake’, as I’d never heard it before. So I looked it up, and it is a genuine word. Who knew? I’m going to start using it. 060

Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 19/03/2026Nothing particularly scary, intimidating or dominating about a bunch of people praying as far as I can see. Farage, Lowe et al must stop crying about this stuff. It’s embarrassing. 001

Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 01/03/2026You have to apply every 3 years. Yes, everyone can do it. But it is not permanent. I don’t care whether it benefits political parties, but there are genuine concerns about postal voting. Not least, it means you cast your vote way before electoral campaigning has ended. 000
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 01/03/2026You can’t chose a permanent postal vote. That’s just incorrect. You have to periodically apply. 200
Jon Levett @jonlevett.bsky.social · 01/03/2026Of course, but you have to register well in advance to vote by post. Being on holiday or in hospital are not things you plan knowing when elections are going to be held. You’d need to arrange a vote by proxy in that situation. 200
