Circular stone patterns aren't guesswork. Each block gets its own angle, cut piece by piece as the radius grows outward, a mason's trick used for centuries in patios and fountains.

Dario Amodei of Anthropic claims to love American values, and I can think of nothing more American than competition. Yet his approach - masked as an "AI arms race with China" - is focused on crushing open source models that are competing with Claude at a lower price.

I think Lydon's issue was that he was effectively in McClaren and Westwood's version of the Monkees. Our mistake was attaching thinking the SP's were CRASS or The Clash. Although the unsung political hero of punk is Robert Smith. Still espousing leftist punk values despite his riches and success.

Anyone can give a one-line answer as to why each PM from Thatcher to Sunak got kicked out of office -- sometimes just one word. I don't think that's the case with Starmer. Clearly he didn't shine as PM, hence he's out. But the diversity of views as to what he did wrong is what's unusual.

What would Bill say? I asked Chatgpt what Bill Hicks would say about Trump: 1. He’d target the “salesman persona”. Hicks despised what he saw as shallow, image-driven culture. Trump’s background in branding, real estate hype, and self-promotion would’ve been prime material.

The worst danger of AI isn't that it exploits creators, nor that it guzzles energy, wastes water and hands power to an undeserving elite, but that it severs our links to each other. It discourages conversation, spontaneity, empathy, critical thinking: everything that makes us better than machines.
