I watched Jack Smith today and what I saw was complete incompetence on the Republican questions. Then I saw an attempt to cover that up on Twitter and other platforms with outright lies. Then I heard a Republican say the lies from Twitter to my face about Jack Smith. They did not watch Jack testify.

I would categorize a lot of actions of this administration as economic warfare against its own citizens. We have an administration withholding funding to its states. Threatening its own banking system with economic collapse unless they do what they say. This is economic warfare waged against itself.

Finishing up my 88th read this year - How to be a Dissident by Gal Beckerman. I recommend it. It's a short read, but it does capture a way of thinking and a way of living that I think is important. Being a dissident is party-agnostic and helps everyone to question the establishment and groupthink.

It is Friday, and I am disappointed. I am disappointed in America. 50 years in this country, and it has gotten progressively worse. In High School I debated with my friends that we were living in the decline of an empire. I wonder if the late Romans felt this sad about their empire.

Texas has suspended over 1.2 million voter registrations. Many valid voters in Texas have found their voter registrations were somehow canceled when they checked. Check your registration here and fix it immediately - Texas doesn't always honor provisional ballots cast on election day.

Today on my drive I was listening to a fun sci fi book, Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. A quote it in it hit me hard, "The greatest priviledge of power is being able to overlook your even wielding it." The book has some powerful points about totalitarian governments and their abuse of science.

Reading the new Mother Jones article on the Robert’s Court highlights that the new Jim Crow will use political alignment to attack African Americans because they mostly vote Democratic. That is because Republicans ignore that voting block and actively pass racist legislation.

In my volunteer work this past week I heard a moving story from an up and coming Latino leader. His mother went to Mexico to visit family and then was denied entry back into the US. Valid green card holder and everything. It highlights how much this administration loathes Latinos. I hate them back.

I have also been struggling to have empathy for Republicans lately. They voted for this economy this administration. When I see them losing jobs, factories closing, etc. I struggle to not immediately feel like they deserve it. As a human, I should pity them not feel apathy.
