Trump and Harris were the options on the ballot. Not voting is mechanically the same as voting for Trump. I'm sorry we don't live in a fantasy land where you get to have your ideal, perfect candidate, but by sitting out and not doing anything, Trump happened. Truth, not coercion.

True enough. Gen 9 was never one open metagame, and had various restrictions and formats. I just felt that, even at it's most busted, the Gen 9 experience was relatively healthy. I wasn't that great at it, but that's another story. XD

To be fair, I feel like the Karen quote is less relevant now because of GF nerfing certain strategies or introducing more counterplay. Infinite weather wars in Gen 5 were pretty gross, especially rain. Even with Urshifu and Flutter Mane, the Gen 9 meta was much more healthy IMO.

Indeed. I vividly remember watching the framerate plummet to single digits every time Isaac used the Ragnarok skill in Golden Sun. Or heck, any time someone used a summon. Really feels like GBA games were held together with duct tape and super glue at times. But hey, they were good games.

Pokemon in general needs a six-page thesis on why it's good for every single game. Fans have been split with every release since at least Black and White, maybe even earlier. That said, Pokopia and Legends Arceus are the closest the fanbase has gotten to consensus on quality since RBY.

Not gonna like, Pokemon Champions needs some work. Bizarre restrictions on usable mons, items and moves missing, Terastallization (WHICH WAS IN THE TRAILER) not present at all, and paltry mon storage that you need to pay to increase. At least Urshifu was nerfed...

Honestly, I feel like playing a bunch of different games for around 60-100 hours is better than playing a handful of games at 500+ hours. The latter scenario demonstrates minimal exposure to how many kinds of video games there are, and if you're working at PC Gamer as a writer...that's a detriment.

The best part of a story is when it ends. No really. Few things in life beat a good story with a hearty, satisfying ending. If the ending is bad, it gives the events of the whole story an incredibly sour taste. Example: the original ending of Mass Effect 3, or the end of Bioshock.

Not just human supervision: human material as well. One part of AI functionality that proponents gloss over is that AI struggles to incorporate data generated by other AI. As a result, data poisoning occurs. And a lot of data since 2022 is AI generated, so it's basically eating its own turds.

After having to sit through the "crypto and NFTs are the future" nonsense, I'm wary of similar logic being applied to AI. Especially considering how unreliable the technology is. Case in point: Microsoft's AI version of Quake II. Hand-crafted games are here to stay. Sorry not sorry AI bros.

What's even more baffling about your roomie's statement is that the people actually working on games don't get paid that much anyway. Most of the earnings from the game go straight to the top. So the cost of games isn't for that reason anyway. Like you said, it's what they've been doing.
