John @johnlk.bsky.social · 1hYeah, it's not that the black costume is bad, it's that it's not Spider-Man's costume. It's definitely the best alternate Spider-Man costume, though. 000
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 11hThe narrator super skeptical that Reed and Sue are actually spending more time with Franklin. 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 11hMcFarlane's Ben Grimm looks neither like on-model normal Ben Grimm nor like what Ben looks like after his recent transformation in the Fantastic Four book. 110
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 11hThe whole extra-dimensional prison thing in Civil War isn't *that* out of character for the Fantastic Four. We won't see Venom again for over a year! Not until Amazing Spider-Man #315. 210
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 11hAh, Brock got bamboozled by the fake Sin Eater. I don't see how that's Peter's fault. 230
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI like how Eddie has this epic grudge against Peter and Peter has no clue who he is. 240
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hThis is a smart move by Michelinie if they follow through with it. Though of course ditching the Bugle is hard 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hEveryone is helping Peter and MJ move: Harry and Liz, Flash, Joe Robertson, Mandi, Candi, and Randi, a bunch of people we've never seen before and will never see again... 110
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI don't get the joke here. I understand that the guy thinking that about Flash's hair himself has crazy hair, but why would he think Flash's hair is weird? Also who is this character? 220
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hHow many times has Peter already heard this guy's anecdote about the time he met Charles Lindbergh? 100
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hLubensky is back, apparently. Did Michelinie or Salicrup know he was gone? Who can say? 100
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hPeter's sleazeball arc from, I think, the DeFalco run finally resuming. 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI guess there's a thing where Peter's spidey sense doesn't work with Venom? 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI wouldn't say that any era of American superhero comics has not been horny (maybe the very most recent era is a bit scared of being horny), but this era is particularly horny. 240
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI like Peter calling Secret Wars "the Beyonder thing," because that's absolutely how all the characters would think of it. On the other hand keep Todd McFarlane away from my precious Fantastic Four you monsters. 170
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hThat one of Spider-Man's villains is "one of his old costumes" is an amazing idea. 270
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hEddie Brock, baby. A character who just screams "should be played by Topher Grace" 130
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hMJ, this is the kind of shit that happens when you have Todd McFarlane on art. He's reckless! He doesn't understand how anatomy works! 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hAs I said, don't love McFarlane's MJ. This is a good scene, though. 220
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hThat was the first #300 but it was like the 218th issue of Thor. This was the actually 300th issue. 000
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hMJ terrified because she sees that McFarlane is inking this time and she knows that Bob McLeod won't be able to partially save her from whatever grotesquerie McFarlane has in store. 240
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hBut anyway, I think most of what has made Spider-Man endure comes from these 300 issues (along with ancillary Spider materials -- the Ditko annuals, the Stern and David runs on Spectacular, the rest of Kraven's Last Hunt). 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hI suppose there's several other Marvel books that have gotten up to 300 issues. Fantastic Four hit #300 a while ago. Simonson's last issue was the 300th Thor story, counting from Journey into Mystery #83. And those two have also been pretty consistent, though I think have had longer mid stretches. 200
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 12hWow, 300 issues of Amazing Spider-Man. I can't say it's all been great, but on the whole what a remarkably consistent run. The O'Neil run, admittedly not great, and there's some other rough bits. Several moments where Spectacular is the better book. But that's a lot of comics. 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 16hEven that one at least had some of the originals in major roles. Like the team in Thunderbolts #150 is recognizably a Thunderbolts team. Whereas the Way team is just a travesty. 110
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 20hI just don't think it's the same book without those characters. This is not the Thunderbolts! 240
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 21hSCOTUS appellate jurisdiction is *explicitly* at the discretion of Congress in the Constitution 150
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 23hYeah, I don't think any of the New Warriors have appeared. Several were cast in an unaired New Warriors pilot, though no Namorita, Nova, Justice, or Firestar (though I think Angelica was tied up with Fox rights probably) 120
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 15/10/2026These are rookie numbers. Jamelle's got to get these numbers up. 070
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Cap was "Captain America and the Falcon" for most of the 70s, e.g. Cyborg and Bumblebee are good ones. I have no idea who Tyroc is. Though he does remind me of Tyr. Who I know about from the non-canon "Super Powers" comics I had as a kid. 200
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Venom! I have to admit, I do imagine him with a stupid Tom Hardy voice now. 271
John @johnlk.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Michelinie very invested in making Chance into a lovable rogue 100
