But on closer inspection you see that they're more like collage objects-- cut up, scratched away bits, photocopies, screen tones galore, pasted type, whole sections of pages cut and replaced. Also have to remember it's mostly a team of 4 working on projects together, so it's 4x ppl's efforts

The only other show that I've seen that really left the same impact re: drawing was the Cezanne show at MoMA in 2021 that gathered like 250 drawings together. For Clamp's pages, your brain doesn't process them as hand-made objects, they just look so finished...

i would confidently say that most people dont feel good about their own work mainly bc we are constantly treated so terribly by the industry and are so severely underpaid that we cant help but feel like we are not good, we lack something, we don't have "what it takes"

He is famous for how horny he is, but Shirow I think should get more credit for how experimental his coloring was, both pre and post digitally. I remember reading that he'd do a lot of collaging with distorted photocopies and such, and then later did a lot of 2d+3d mashups
