John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 27/05/2026End net zero and join Trump in his wars / Gaza project? That is indeed what’s happening! 010

John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Yes but have you provided any documentary evidence to back that up! 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Hmm thanks. No I was saying that in a difficult situation he did rather well in protecting our interests. 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 29/04/2026It really pisses you off that King Charles is actually doing a good job 010
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 29/04/2026Perhaps you should be a diplomat - sounds like you have it sussed. 000

John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 29/04/2026The guy who was responsible for approving said there was huge pressure and cited emails and communication. But if you think that with the announcement made and the King and US authorities having already approved the appointment there was no evidence of pressure to approve, you’re bonkers. 100

John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 22/04/2026As I say I think he knows more about this than….you. Whatever happens in your line of work is irrelevant. The point is that the vetting process is somewhat nuanced and I believe Sir Keir has wilfully ignored those nuances. 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 21/04/2026I’m thinking he knows more about this than us. I’d suggest your accusation of “negligence” is rather casual and meaningless. 100

John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 21/04/2026I think the point Robbins made at the end about Mandelson being sacked before we knew he had shared information with Epstein will turn out the be relevant 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 21/04/2026Starmer has again said that Robbins made an error of judgement in not informing him about vetting concerns. It seems clear to me that the error of judgement is in the desire to see the vetting concerns. This is the battle now 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 21/04/2026I think Robbins characterised the vetting process as not giving a final recommendation. “Leaning towards” is not the same as “we recommend…”. Not sure if that is a sustainable position. Someone now needs to find out what the final vetting team recommended, if indeed they did recommend anything. 000
John B @johnkb.bsky.social · 21/04/2026Putting him under pressure was a mistake. One can also disagree with his conclusion that the pressure had no impact on his decision (what else would he say🤷♂️). 000

Reposted by John BSam Freedman @samfr.bsky.social · 20/04/2026The problem with Starmer's argument (well one of them) is that it depends on an assertion that he wouldn't have appointment Mandelson if he'd known he'd failed vetting. But he appointed him before vetting was complete. 3233064
